So, metallarobionico, let's do this: download the album and listen to it carefully... you'll realize for yourself that the story about affinities/divergences with comrade Togliatti is just a distraction, a provocation, or simply a starting point... after which, the album speaks of other things (it addresses universal themes from an existential, sociological, psychological perspective, etc... politics is involved to the extent that it is involved in anything in this world). The only explicit reference to politics (of parties) is the first song, which, however, states âfaithful to the line/the line does not existâ and is obviously ironic/sarcastic regarding the obtuseness of so-called aligned individuals (especially in the era of âthawâ). Now, the fact that you loved this album while Ferretti declared himself a communist (like you), but now that Ferretti has crossed over to the other side, your opinion on the same album has changed, makes me a bit suspicious... and it should, in theory, also make your conscience suspicious... yes, because I really struggle to understand the logic behind not appreciating a work of art because you were âdisappointedâ by the one who conceived and realized it... now I wonder: has âAffinità/Divergenzeâ changed since Ferretti became a Christian? Have songs like Morire, Curami, Io sto bene, Emilia Paranoica, Trafitto become unlistenable since Ferretti declared he voted for the center-right? And mind you: Iâm not just talking about music, aesthetics, âart for artâs sakeâ... Iâm referring also and especially to the message (political, ideological, ethical, whatever it is) conveyed by these songs... you see, I have a strong suspicion that you (like many other âbetrayedâ fans: but betrayed by what?? damn it, I will never tire of repeating it: it is we who must understand the artist, not the other way around! Letâs stop demanding that artists be our banners! Itâs like when a fan of a certain band that has never used synthesizers declares eternal love for that band, only to later declare themselves âdisappointedâ or âbetrayedâ at the first synth line they hear...) appreciated Ferrettiâs music (and lyrics) in the past only because Ferretti used to vote for the party you have always voted for... otherwise, there would be no reason to no longer want to listen to/appreciate/love an album that âpreachesâ the same concepts it preached 20 years ago... the man Ferretti has changed, but the work remains intact, with its original meanings... metallarobionico, you need to learn to distinguish between life and art, people and their creations... and this does not mean neglecting the content, only focusing on the form, concentrating solely on the music and ignoring the lyrics, demanding a separation between entertainment and politics, ignoring âwhat is behind the conception of a work,â no! Iâm not saying that... but you said yourself that music cannot be separated from attitude, from lyrics, from meanings: okay, I fully agree. But then what reason is there to no longer want to know about CCCP, given that the attitude, lyrics, and meanings of their albums are the same as always?
