overrated by the public, certainly not by the critics: let's not forget that!

I listened to Stations Of The Crass and I feel like quoting Mike. Now, I understand that the Crass represented an ideological reference point for a lot of British punk and I don’t deny that they had some pretty unique stylistic ideas, but damn… 1) an 80-minute punk record is neither here nor there; 2) it’s played badly and recorded worse; 3) the voice is completely devoid of personality; 4) the band seems indecisive whether to follow the "old-school" path of the frontal assault (the one that their cousins Discharge followed excellently!) or to dive into experiments like the Pop Group (without having the ability) or into eclectic solutions like the Clash (without having the imagination and the freshness). Then all this hostility towards melody I don’t get: the Stiff Little Fingers were ultra-political but at the same time catchy, emotional, and compelling… the Crass are neither good, nor powerful, nor melodic; they don’t taste like anything… they’re the classic band NOT to recommend to those looking for something truly creative in English punk…

he calls them embarrassing, says that you've never listened to them again, and describes the lyrics as "horrendous": what a modest guy! :-)

Stefano Magnani "Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive" Ed. Giunti (Compact Rock series, directed by Riccardo Bertoncelli) Unfortunately, the bibliography is missing, so I couldn't tell you where that statement by Wright was taken from.

No, really, I've listened to that album 3000 times and it has always left me indifferent (if not embarrassed: Wright's tracks are unlistenable... he admitted it himself! :-D)

masterpiece... I would like to write a more in-depth comment, but this bare format and this very sad little rectangle in which I find myself writing makes me lose my enthusiasm :-D
