2%? that's more than enough! :-)

bjorky, I certainly didn't mean to say "polished," but I don't like the style of this film... it lacks finesse, as I see it... I find it rather crude... I should mention that at the time no one in America was making films with such a "youthful" style...

but no poletti, look at it! don't pay attention to my nonsense! just assume that I’m the only one so far on this page who has trashed the movie... everyone else liked it... so it’s probably me who’s in the wrong... so give it a chance...

Well, the style seems clearly (and overtly) influenced by the techniques of music videos (the editing, the framing, the wide angles...)... I found the acting truly forced (aside from Turturro)... regarding the discussion on racism (the fact that it's in each of us), unfortunately I couldn't grasp this message, but of course that's my limitation :-)

Haha, the 5 for Home Alone is obviously a joke! (that movie has no value, good or bad :-D) Regarding "Do the Right Thing," I gave it a 2 to indicate that I didn't like it...actually, for me the rating doesn't matter (ONE OF THESE DAYS I'LL DECIDE NOT TO VOTE FOR ANY ALBUM/MOVIE ANYMORE, I PROMISE!), I find it frankly limiting...reducing the value of a work to a number, nah...it's a simplistic attitude (a bit like that of the early Spike Lee ;-P)...what do you think of Summer of Sam? (I won't ask you about 25th Hour, because I'm betting my hand that you like it!)
Minor Threat Minor Threat
Voto:
Um, can we manage (for once, just this once!) to talk about politics without bringing up the usual stale names of Berlusconi and the Refoundation? "The one from Minor Threat is nihilism in response to nihilism" <<< I think you're wrong: the MT were the antithesis (and the condemnation) of nihilism!

Maybe, Bjorky... I would love to argue with you (like we used to, remember?)... first of all, the acting is embarrassing... demagogic instead is the way the theme of the conflict between whites and blacks is handled (demagogic because the reality, quite complex, is overly simplified and banalized, reduced to dry schematics... the good, persecuted blacks and the petty, hypocritical whites... over time, Spike will mature and the result is films like SOS and 25th Hour, in which all the complexity of interracial relationships in the Big Apple is shown without simplisms... in these latest films by Spike Lee, an ethic of "responsibility" emerges that is somewhat lacking in "Do the Right Thing," which seems to be based on the ethic, later denied by Lee, of "victimhood," according to which if blacks find themselves in that difficult situation, the blame is solely and exclusively on whites)

kraut-pop! I had never heard it before! Beautiful! :-)))
David Cronenberg The Brood, La Covata Malefica
Voto:
the first important film by Cronenberg, after a couple of interesting horrors (The Demon, Rabid) that are still too derivative of Romero...Impeccable reviews: Fidia doesn’t miss a beat!

the review is excellent, as usual...the film is terrible...the revolting videoclip style would deserve an entire page of curses, but beyond that, I've never seen such a simplistic, schematic, demagogic, cumbersome, and at times embarrassing film...it's crazy how such a complex theme was dealt with in such a predictable way...it was an immature Spike Lee...nothing to compare with masterpieces like SOS and especially 25th Hour (the best American film of the 2000s, imho)...
