Franco Battiato Last Summer Dance
Voto:
A modest live performance. Too modest. Listening again to the excellent "Giubbe rosse" (1989), and forgetting about this half-baked thing. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato L'Arca di Noè
Voto:
It comes after "La voce del padrone," and the task is daunting. It's hard to repeat oneself, but here Battiato seems to settle onto comfortable feather cushions swollen with gold (the previous album had earned him a pile of nice cash). Nothing exceptional, except for "Voglio vederti danzare." Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato La Voce Del Padrone
Voto:
Masterpiece. It had a devastating (and for some almost apocalyptic) impact on early 1980s Italian music: it was like a tremor, revolutionizing modern musical language. From "Cuccurucucù" to "Centro di gravità permanente," from "Bandiera bianca" to "Summer on a solitary beach," all the tracks went down in history. It sold tons of copies, and it deserved every single one. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Gommalacca
Voto:
Not much, I'm amazed how all you De Baser regulars could give it a 5. Either you’ve never actually listened to it or you’re really easy to please and generous. Marco Poletti Dixit.

There is a serious mistake that hangs, like the sword of Damocles, over this first album by Franco Battiato: everyone, or at least the majority, considers it a supreme masterpiece. And instead, listen closely, it is not: the music is interesting but excessively ambitious, the use of the VCS3 is not entirely successful and effective, and the lyrics (have you ever listened to them carefully?) dangerously oscillate between the ridiculous and the philosophical sheepish. Of course, he deserves some artistic as well as commercial courage. But it is not a masterpiece… Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Ferro Battuto
Voto:
Fully agree with the Punisher. Is there anything else to add? Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Dieci Stratagemmi
Voto:
Come on, one of the worst Battiato albums of the last fifteen years (but not the worst). So much music, a lot of electronics, very difficult (and often ridiculous) lyrics with the only winning idea being the narrating voice of the philosopher (Battiato's friend) Manlio Sgalambro. It's hard to believe that Battiato will return to the highest and supreme heights: however, deep down, hope is always the last to die. Marco Poletti Dixit.

Fourth album by Battiato. Very intriguing (and very beautiful) music, but it's hard to separate skill from arrogance. Nevertheless, among the first Battiato records, together with "Sulle corde di Aries" (1973), it is one of the best. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Campi Magnetici
Voto:
A lot of music, few words. Recommended only for true Battiatian fans. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Caffè de la Paix
Voto:
From Indian sounds to Gregorian chants, from East to West: everything Battiato is encapsulated in this missed masterpiece. For better or for worse, it's one of his most interesting albums (but far from being the most beautiful). Marco Poletti Dixit.
