Completely agree with South-Man. Besides, this is one of the best reviews on De-Baser. The album, of course, is stunning. A great debut (or a flashy one, you decide). Marco Poletti Dixit.
U2 All That You Can't Leave Behind
Voto:
The U2 kick off the millennium brilliantly, redeeming themselves after their last unhealthy and jarring nonsense. Brilliant songs, romantic ballads, abundant pop rock, and even a nostalgic homage of the highest order ("Wild Honey," by the Beatles). Of course, they're trying in every way to win over the favor of radio stations, and some tracks brush against being commercially viable at all costs, but the product is of excellent craftsmanship and, given today’s quality standards, it’s something to be pleased about. Marco Poletti Dixit.

It's the last great album by U2. Bono's band turns the page, becoming electric and unfurling a series of sounds magically suspended between dream and a viciously trendy reality. And "One" is truly one of the five most beautiful songs in the entire history of international music (I Love Music scoffs, but we say in chorus: "Who cares?"). A masterpiece, perhaps the most surprising by the Dublin group. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Dalla Lucio Dalla
Voto:
Dalla's masterpiece. A handful of beautiful songs that have rightly gone down in history. Completely agree with cece65: I endorse it word for word. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Dalla Lucio
Voto:
Truth be told, this is the best Dalla since 1986 (the year of "Dallamericaruso"). He turns 60, dyes his hair blonde, and gifts us (and himself) a record that isn’t perfect, but is absolutely sober and singer-songwriter focused, lacking in easy melodies yet undeniably interesting. He is also the author of a modern version of "Tosca" (nothing groundbreaking, to be clear), but the precious gem of the duet with Mina (the song is "Amore disperato") seems to want to sail towards shores and coasts a bit less banal than those he's been frequenting lately. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Dalla Il Giorno Aveva Cinque Teste
Voto:
The worst of the albums composed by Dalla alongside his friend Roversi. The experiments are always of excellent quality, but Dalla seems to take too much pleasure in his own musical and vocal abilities. Almost conceited, and even a bit tedious. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Dalla Henna
Voto:
Difficult and often jarring sounds. It’s a weary and monotonous Dalla, now far removed from the musical beauties of the mid-Seventies. He tries to enchant the young audience and chooses the questionable "Merdman" as the single. Certainly, he’s not a mere chatterbox: the style is still of good craftsmanship, but the ambitions are exaggerated and, at times, even a bit childish. Marco Poletti Dixit.

5 on this album is truly a half-blasphemy. From the sales, it did incredibly well (perhaps his most remarkable discographic success), there are many beautiful songs ("Futura," the best, "Balla balla ballerino," "Siamo Dei"), but it is clearly inferior (especially musically) to the previous "Lucio Dalla" from 1978. Not everything is perfect, and at times it even risks musical outing (which is not exactly a virtue, indeed, at best it’s a vice). Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Dalla Com'è profondo il mare
Voto:
The partnership between Dalla and Roversi comes to an end. And it couldn't be any other way. "Com'è profondo il mare," despite the extremely high number of copies sold, represents a sort of dividing line between the first magnificent Dalla and the second, somewhat less magnificent Dalla (excluding, of course, the excellent "Lucio Dalla" from 1978). Many brilliant ideas, but also a lot of sadness and even some banalities. The hilarious "Disperato erotico stomp" is perhaps the best track on the entire album. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Dalla Automobili
Voto:
An album dedicated solely to the world of engines. More experiments for the Dalla of the mid-Seventies, and still a strong desire to amaze and be amazed. But "Nuvolari" is, by right and artistic merit, a masterpiece with a capital M. Marco Poletti Dixit.
