Soundgarden Badmotorfinger

"I still remember when those damn bastards messed up the intro to 'Jesus Christ Pose' in Reggio Emilia (the concert where Kyuss scalped them live)... it was heresy for me. Christ, at least you managed to see them... and just imagine, every time I hear about a Soundgarden live show, I think of missed opportunities and it makes me sad... sigh... Anyway, if it wasn't clear, I'm a fan and a high rating is a must."

No, we’re not on the same page as far as I'm concerned. The melody is there, but it’s not the backbone of the album; it’s simply the element that contrasts with the more “virulent” one to create the climax and the moments of tension/release that everyone will then pick up on. Because the problem is precisely this: when we talked about the nu metal scene, the most original ideas had already passed and been watered down by the little bands with contracts. Unless I’m mistaken, at the album’s release, there was no talk of any scene; in fact, many magazines referred to them as emo/emo-core. Honestly, this is their most difficult album to revisit with awareness, precisely because of the countless epigones that followed.

I've always snubbed Mark Lanegan's solo work for no reason... and I keep hearing good things about it... I guess I should give it a try.

I agree that the third-to-last comment is from an indoctrinated idiot... the classic Italian fool, the one who is either in college or post-university, the know-it-all who thinks they understand everything and has no respect for others except for their equals, meaning other fools of their caliber and identical arrogance who attended the same faculty, because these socially useless little creatures are limited, as we know.

I would like to hear more; I'm stuck on a single that I've always liked but never explored further... nice review!
