One thing I don't quite understand is why Luca Carboni, who can be seen as a local forerunner of Stuart Murdoch (albeit certainly less intellectual), is shunned by a sea of people who, on the other hand, are crazy about Belle and Sebastian, whom I actually like a lot (I liked them back in the days of If You Are Feeling...). For me, he has always been subject to an undeserved lynching. Luca Carboni and Persone Silenziose are really beautiful albums.

misterNo, De Andrè didn’t just take a lot from Cohen, he took a ton from (let me quote the first that come to mind): Dylan Thomas, W.B. Yeats, Brassens, Villon, Dylan, etc., etc. But he made those references his own, like only the greats know how to do.
