Now tell me ONE solo by Cooley and ONE by Angelo (Fareri is nothing) where you say they go faster than Malmsteen for which I can find the sheet music with the staff. Come on, I'm curious.

but those preconceptions about Malmsteen, they're only in your head, you just make them up to have something to say! besides, you haven't even addressed my objections, NOT A SINGLE ONE, but what does it mean to use easy tapping to cheat? what do you think about when you listen to music!?? your ideas are quite unclear! but look, you're saying so much nonsense...years wasted on the guitar for you (not that I believe it)...and just so you know, I’m way closer to learning an "under the influence" (oh wait, it’s true I don’t know them, sorry) than any Malmsteen solo. Discussing music with someone who doesn’t know how to listen is like explaining color to someone who’s been blind since birth. And the case is hopeless. amen

The fact is, it’s like trying to explain green to a blind person (no offense, eh...). I’m not a worshiper of Malmsteen, but I find that playing his solos is MUCH harder. First of all, the fingering is much more complicated (and don’t come at me saying he plays scales or arpeggios in a linear way!), he uses alternate picking when (almost everyone else) uses sweep picking (just check out ANY of his video courses to believe it), he mixes legato parts with picking parts in a way that is hard to memorize. He has great skill with the use of pickups (often changing them within a solo just to play a SINGLE note and radically change the character of the solo itself... oh, it’s true he’s just a show-off). And the accents he places are done with RIGOR. Not to mention how he MODULATES bends and vibratos! That’s perfect! And don’t tell me that those half-assed players (and oh my dear) that you say are more technical than Malmsteen don’t have a shred of PERSONAL TASTE in making music. This is further proven by the fact that they use a terrible sound and have the strings glued to the bridge to play faster more easily, while Malmsteen has an EXTREME bridge and instrument setup, and you know why? He says it gives him more control over the sound. I believe I’ve given you good listening (and even reflection) prompts. Judging a musician is a delicate thing (if you have respect for the art); you need to go beyond appearances. Just because a musician plays fast doesn’t mean they’re necessarily a hack. They could very well be a great talent. Until next time.

Great review! Terrible album! After all, good old Lucone has hit rock bottom with Demonheart (and has started digging!), it's simply inconceivable to have a more cheesy album than this one!

To me, honestly, shredding sucks quite a lot! But talking about Malmsteen only as the initiator of shredding is quite debatable... I recommend you listen to him more carefully, because Yngwie is one of the most talented guitarists ever... That said, I don’t agree with practically anything you say, neither regarding the form nor the content of Malmsteen's music, but I respect every opinion. I pass the ball back to jettojet, as long as he wants to take up this (heavy) commitment again...

Well, then you’ll know that it’s harder to play Yngwie Malmsteen solos WELL than to play solos by Angelo, Fareri, or Cooley...

I insist... I didn’t say the best at doing this or that, but the greatest because more than anyone else, he has changed the way the electric guitar is played! Beyond all the personal rankings (or thereabouts) of guitarists that everyone has.
