"G3 - Live in concert". The title itself is a whole program.
Here we are witnessing a great performance, folks, high level, three guitarists (among the best in the world) put together on the same stage...something that gives a guitarist like me chills.
We're talking about a live recorded some time ago (it was 1997) but still bright and beautiful to listen to today.
No need to waste words on the legendary figures in question, especially when it comes to Satriani and Vai, (Johnson is not quite my style, but this is a personal opinion...). Excellent performances by all three, including the musicians playing with them, truly skillful, great Satriani, great Johnson, OUTSTANDING Vai.
I liked a little less the execution of the pieces together, "Going Down" and "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama," but mainly I expected a bit more from "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix, where in my opinion the solos should have been a tad more imaginative.
Overall a great testament to the future of what electric guitar has been in the last twenty years, played in this case by Guitar Heroes worthy of respect. Obviously, listening is recommended only to fans of the "Guitar Hero" genre, meaning long songs, acrobatics on the six strings, and absolute absence of sung parts (except in very rare cases).
Anyway, this goes without saying, because fans of the genre, after so many years, will surely have listened to it and re-listened to it 3000 times.
It would be nice to see an Italian version of the G3, maybe with Braido, Solieri and who knows...I can’t think of anyone else off the top of my head, what do you think?
