But how, but who, but what the hell??? Can the guitarist of Marilyn Manson really play? Is he friends with Steve Vai and esteemed and praised by him? Does he have a sense of humor? This time the grass was really good... Damn, what a hit, better take a nap.
(12 HOURS LATER)
But how, but who, but what the hell??? So it's true! Victors Breath Alive can be felt in the throat and even in the nose! John5... who would've expected it... joined Marilyn Manson when they transformed from a dirty joke that was fun to a worn-out joke that doesn't make anyone laugh anymore, not particularly contributive and not particularly flashy either, the guy in this second solo release (42 minutes of guitar improvisation) proves to be not just an excellent, outstanding guitarist, but even a good writer.
The best parts are found in the acoustic country-blues of "Gein With Envy" (my favorite) and "Behind The Nut Love", but there's also good stuff in the metal of "Damaged"... inevitably more boring is the Mansonian field and, strangely, the song in which we find a guest appearance by Steve Vai di pirsona pirsonalmente, but, honestly, there's nothing really mediocre, and although not transcendental, "Songs For Sanity" is a pleasant album.
