A fantastic album, a 5, even though it's not my favorite by EN (which still remains 'Zeichnungen Des Patienten O.T.'). 'Yu-Gung', 'Seele Brennt', 'Letztes Biest', 'Das Schaben' are absolutely thrilling. But the rest of the album is no joke either. Not a joke at all.

This is a sensational album, one of my favorites by the Melvins. It’s the first album made after stepping away from Atlantic - with which they recorded three big records like 'Houdini,' 'Stoner Witch,' and 'Stag'! It’s an extremely provocative album: a hodgepodge of oddities, ridiculous dance skits, experimentation and noise, industrial sounds, and extraordinary ambient moments, rarefied and minimal. I read a nice, concise but effective definition of "They All Must Be Slaughtered" somewhere, which was "persecutory."
The 'usual' Melvins are recognizable in the brutality of the barely 2 minutes of 'Mombius Hibachi.' Everything else speaks of another side of the band. The 12 minutes and change of "Air Breather Deep In The Arms Of Morphius" are perhaps the highlight of the album along with the 'persecutory' opening track. The collage of phone calls over a silly little tune titled 'Laughing with Lucifer at Satan's Sideshow,' in which their time spent under the aforementioned major label is sarcastically commented on, is priceless.

Well. You could have at least mentioned that here the tracks are rearranged compared to the original versions.
