THE REVIEW

Paolo Conte, the lawyer born in Asti on January 6, 1937, who left his father's practice to dedicate himself to a singer-songwriter career and make us dream with his poetic lyrics and perfect melodies.

The Best Of was released in '96 and is a collection of his best masterpieces, some of which include Via con me, Boogie, Sparring Partner, Gelato al limon, Genova per noi, and many other breathtaking songs...
Songs that are more like poems due to the refinement and mystery that the lyrics evoke, and I honestly would never have believed that a lawyer could be so poetic.

Of course, certain songs, like Happy Feet, have nonsensical lyrics, but the melodies and double meanings manage to save all the songs on this magnificent CD and earn it a 5.

Paolo Conte is an extraordinary 'craftsman' of music, combining jazz and swing with classical and South American rhythms in a completely personal way.

Conte’s voice does not shout, it whispers. It doesn’t sing, it accompanies.
