Dream Theater Systematic Chaos

The only decent review of an indecent record.

Roger invented and Gilmour executed perfectly: today Gilmour is a mannerist who performs but cannot create, while Roger invents and has found some good performers, not on par with Gilmour but still good. It goes without saying that I find invention much more important than execution...X for the reviewer: for being the first, it's good, but next...time...remove...some...ellip ses...
M. Night Shyamalan Il Sesto Senso

In the meantime, The Village is the only intriguing film with a bit of atmosphere that Shyamalan has managed to create: the only one with a badass plot that had never been tackled before, unlike Signs (where the theme was classic, with a barely credible Mel Gibson and ridiculous portrayals of aliens). The Village at least starts with an interesting idea, intrigues with its setting, the porcupine men, and everything else: sure, it goes downhill with a banal ending but at least it's watchable. I called it beautiful because to me it is not so much for the quality of the film or the story, but for the atmosphere that the director is able to create, not to mention that William Hurt is a great actor. As for The Others, it's based on a film from the 70s/80s (I can't remember now), so your friend Shyamalan has copied as well (so learn to do some research before shooting down another person); but it happens that Shyamalan "copied worse" since The Others is acted, set, and imagined in an atmosphere of suspense and lingering tension (the scene with the girl under the veil and the medium is visionary, unsettling, original, intense, and surreal) unlike The Sixth Sense, which condemns us to an hour and a half of a bland, repetitive, and poorly made film (not to mention its all-American feel). Not to mention that in that film the tension is practically non-existent, with a Bruce Willis who is hardly credible as a ghost. The film goes in circles and you can't tell where it wants to go, until the ending, which is banal, poorly explained, and above all, rushed. The shots where Bruce Willis appears or disappears are just American cinema tricks; if I were you, I wouldn't be too impressed by these gimmicks. Of course, "if you've seen it once it doesn't work at all" (is that Italian?), you know how it is, it's a film, not a video game with multiple endings. As for you, I don't know what made me waste my precious time responding: but do me a favor and express yourself in Italian, not like an ignorant kid who doesn't know the syntax and writes in SMS language (you know, that's not Italian...). Then finally, I would like to know who asked you to bother me by attacking me with swear words and a jumble of words that one can't understand how they are coordinated; frankly, I have every right to come here and rate The Sixth Sense a 2, you know, no one asked for your opinion on my comment. I also want to point out that unlike Shyamalan, The Others is the debut film of Amenábar: Shyamalan, on the other hand, when he directed The Sixth Sense already had four films behind him, including Unbreakable, a colossal mess about immortals. Recently, Amenábar confirmed he has extraordinary talent with the film "Mar Adentro," which has a meaning and depth that neither you nor Shyamalan would probably understand. Regards.

A random Italian film, pointless and bland, marketed as something else by the mass media.

Ahhhhh Dave McKean also illustrated the cover of "The Autumn People" by Ray Bradbury, one of my all-time favorite books: pure "Visionarismo"...

@ Punisher: you vote one but from the way you talk you've seen them all :-)

If we have to talk about movies on the same theme with a good surprise ending, there's The Others by Amenábar with Kidman: that's truly a thriller that keeps you glued to your seat from the first to the last second, acted, directed, and set with class and typically English style. From this director, Signs was awful, Lady in the Water was so-so, while The Village was beautiful.
