I don't love Manu Chao, too Latin and Mediterranean-like for my taste: but it seems that this album is practically made for France, about France. So I think I will definitely give it a listen.

I have suspicions about both the nominations and the awards: I struggle to believe that so many people voted for Usher's album as the best of 2004. But what the hell does Usher represent to anyone?!? And then, why is the European edition of the MTV Awards practically dedicated to American artists (all hugely inflated names, some of whom didn’t release any albums in 2004)? And to think that, even in the mainstream, there were several names worth noting (Jamelia, for example, is British) like Keane or Kings Of Convenience, who made a huge splash. It’s a logic that is surely corrupt and dirty: according to MTV, Franz Ferdinand is “alternative,” but according to the whole of England, they are the pop phenomenon of the year. And what about the Libertines? Snow Patrol? And THE STREETS?????
