"Every Day" is the second album by the Cinematic Orchestra, an English sextet led by the charismatic multi-instrumentalist Jason Winscoe. Released by Ninja Tune, just like its predecessor "Motion," "Every Day" is the true manifesto of the London group and its sound, balancing between acid-jazz, trip hop, and "cinematic" soundtrack-like suggestions, which make them a true standout in today's music scene.
It starts with the beautiful "All That You Give," a slow and melancholic track accompanied by the stunning voice of Fontella Bass, whom we also find in "Evolution," a splendid single supported by the magnificent vocalist, alongside hip hop rhythms and respectable scratches, giving that strange "retro-nuevo" effect in which they are unparalleled. The mentioned tracks are undoubtedly the most beautiful, but the remaining tracks are not far behind, like the drum'n'bass turns of "Flite" and "Man With The Movie Camera" (very 4Hero) and the political invective in the style of Gil Scott Heron by Roots Manuva in "All Things To All Men."
It's true, we are not facing anything transcendental or particularly innovative, but, in any case, "Every Day" remains an excellent album and undoubtedly the best by the Cinematic Orchestra, a group that filters emotions and feelings through their personal camera, then reworks and re-proposes them in music, a music that, no matter what people say, remains unique and fascinating. Give it a listen and you won't regret it...
Tracklist Lyrics and Videos
01 All That You Give (feat. Fontella Bass) (06:10)
All that you are
all that you are,
all that you have,
all that you give
mmmm
You hear me ravin'
you hear me ravin'
ravin', ravin'
you see me cryin'
I'm grieving from my hat down to my shoes
mmmm-hmm
All that you are
all that you are,
all that you have,
all that you give
all that you give
02 Burn Out (10:13)

Anyone reading this must absolutely listen to this group: it has everything! Jazz-electronic-dreamy atmospheres...
I’ve never seen a live show like it... AND I’D SEE IT AGAIN!

The album by The Cinematic Orchestra... has the merit of fusing past, present, and future, and does so with a contamination that reflects a globalized world.
The stars continue to illuminate the path of Every Day, even two decades later, and they will continue to illuminate it for a long time to come.
