Cobain was a poor bastard and Nirvana just another band among 100,000. Poor Cobain didn’t write anything truly memorable and naively got crushed by the system. Not to mention the famous quote: "we had become a money-making machine and everyone was kissing our ass"... if I were in their place, I would have let some stunning babe kiss my dick too. Great commercial success...but rock is something else. A record that's far too mediocre to be called "a cornerstone album in the history of rock"...better suited as a frisbee or a coaster.

This is truly a fundamental album for rock, unlike Nevermind by Nirvana (great as a coaster or frisbee). Putting aside Eddy Van Halen's technique, it's a fantastic rock'n'roll record with a powerful sound.
