Every instrument has its reference artist, and in the case of the modern electric guitar, there is no doubt it is Steve Vai. He is now a guitar icon, with his techniques being studied and taught at the best music institutes, from the Lizard in Fiesole to the Guitar Institute in Los Angeles. This album, composed of 7 tracks, is the result of years of sonic experimentation and the application of concepts from Zappa's teachings (our Steve was, for five years, the "impossible guitar player" for a certain Frank Zappa) and is highly enjoyable, from the first to the billionth note played. The exquisite technique is what most stands out, but the truly astonishing thing is the quality of the tracks, their structure, is of absolute value, setting itself apart from the lullabies of other guitarists who usually write trivial riffs only to embellish them with impossible virtuosity. Steve does not perform breathtaking lightning-fast scales just for the sake of self-celebration; instead, he weaves sudden notes over precious sound fabrics. A great album for those who love hard and technical music. Noteworthy is the piece "ya-yo gakk" where, with mixing skill, Steve manages to have his two-year-old sing. Intriguing.
