Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Requiem
Voto:
it certainly doesn't leave me indifferent, being a classic-phobe myself...
Rip Rig & Panic God
Voto:
truly beautiful in an ugly way! I finally managed to get the samples working too... Odradek, you dig up some real hidden gems.
Violent Femmes Hallowed Ground
Voto:
Really a great album, I got it yesterday and I can't stop listening to it!
Elvis Costello King of America
Voto:
He is indeed a deep and complex singer-songwriter. For example, I really love "Spike," with the memorable track "Veronica" in collaboration with Paul McCartney. I actually don't know this one.
Miles Davis On The Corner
Voto:
I agree, this is a great album. In the same genre, there's also the double live "Agharta," which is very good too, although maybe even more hardcore.
Nicola Conte apresenta Rosalia de Souza Garota Moderna
Voto:
seems interesting, thank you for the tip.
Frank Zappa Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar
Voto:
I completely agree, Hot Rats, Grand Wazoo, Uncle Meat, or even Jazz from Hell are true masterpieces (it seems we actually have the same favorite Zappa albums, Fangen). In comparison, Guitar is a minor album in my opinion.
Frank Zappa Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar

Actually, I don't really like "Guitar" by Frank Zappa; it seems to me one of his less inspired works, even though we all know it’s technically brilliant. Just to know, is this one in the style of "Guitar" or is it different, maybe a bit more organic?
Fantômas Fantômas

I miss this, anyway what a great group the Fantomas. Even the Fantomas books, although they are unfortunately out of print, are way too entertaining. Even better than the movies. It would be desirable if someone in Italy reprinted them.
Naked City Torture Garden
Voto:
I always knew that this was the debut album and that it was later partially reissued in "Grand Guignol." But if you read otherwise in the booklet of the complete works, then I must be mistaken. I have it reissued in the "Naked City Black Box," which also includes "Len Tchen," inspired by a comment from Bataille on the terrible Chinese torture of a hundred pieces. I had planned to review it soon, good job Fagen for beating me to it. In my opinion, it's even better than "Naked City" because it represents the version taken to the extreme and, in a sense, unvarnished. For instance, the piece "Speedfreaks" is insane: it lasts about 30 seconds and there are around 8-9 successive changes of different musical genres (like country-funk-swing-etc), each lasting 3 or 4 seconds. The beauty of it is that played in succession, the phrase makes perfect sense.
