It’s been ten days and hundreds of wasted words that I’ve been trying to explain to Franceschino why BJ is so beautiful and talented (although I heard he votes Democrat, which almost makes me re-evaluate him).. Well.. I had granted him a minimal explanation as I already said, and he just wouldn’t budge.. and yet he keeps saying that we have no motivations and he does.. and yet he keeps saying it would be useless, with idiots like us.. and yet idiots like us have thought about music, and he hasn’t.. well, Francè, what can I say? Let’s not even talk about DAN.. do you know Dan, Nick? Dan will enlighten you with a rock story that is obviously true and absolutely revolutionary, one that only he has been able to know and that now he generously shares with everyone.. I won’t summarize it because I can’t utter the VERB.. but I recommend you to grasp it somehow..

Jessy and Francesco, you are CRAZY, I mean CRAZY CRAZY... Francesco, who even mentioned your girlfriend? You are paranoid, superduperparanoid... and at least admit that you’re responding at random just because you wouldn’t know how to defend BJ musically speaking! (the comment was a bit provocative but basically playful, to be taken with a grain of salt, please don’t respond with a string of insults)

It's very beautiful... but Brian Wilson has a voice that sounds like he's being crushed under a press... Well, on the other hand, it was known... of course it's not the Smile that would have come out in '67, but it's still worth a listen.

"Influence" does not mean revival. The Beach Boys were obviously influenced by '50s rock'n'roll, but they created a fusion with the vocal groups of the same period and found a personal and overall original sound. Originality is not the only distinguishing factor, but it is a fundamental one. If a band can't even impose its own personality on a piece, what’s the point? With this, the FF are hardly the worst in the current crowd of plagiarists, but essentially they can’t even create something that doesn’t get forgotten in a year or two.

Someone who says this is an album about "doubts about love" should just shut up, regardless... Testaradio on TV, it’s not a Pausini review, be careful! ;)

More than anything, I find it incorrect to speak of influence from Joy Division. Essentially, the two bands have developed alongside each other, starting from an amorphous and deconstructed conception of punk (when JD were still Warsaw) and progressing to define a sound with more precise coordinates. Siouxsie and the Banshees influenced The Cure even less. Seventeen Seconds is an album that draws inspiration from chamber music, attempting to emulate its ethereal sounds, and possesses an evocative, subdued, psychedelic framework in the most visionary sense of the term, decidedly distant from the visceral physicality of JD's sound. Not to mention that The Cure have maintained an intact interpretative attitude since "Three Imaginary Boys" that transcends "genre," being substantially more universal compared to Joy Division; they continue to sound significantly more Pop (see "Play for Today" or "In Your House") than other dark bands.

To an independent observer: indeed, perhaps I didn't explain myself well, it is not innovation that is a distinguishing factor; but certainly originality, and anyway a well-defined personality, yes (for me). In the case of BJ, obviously the premises are lacking, as it is a group that clearly existed only to sell as much as possible; in short, in the case of BJ there isn't even the intention, I believe, to bring out something artistic; the focus is solely on the effect on the audience, which obviously stifles any discussion of style.
