Mediocrity of the instrument??!! You call the Fender Jazzmaster mediocre?? It has an '80s sound, but it doesn't seem like such a poor production to me.

Indeed, you yourself start by saying: "lately in the pop scene, I don't think there are any bands worthy of a ten and praise in this regard..." ..nice discovery, I say, but yours remains an extremely limited viewpoint, however widespread even at a "professional" level, because every form of art must be considered on a large scale, according to its history and evolutionary path; it's too easy (and, I continue to say, also deeply dishonest) to close one's eyes and look only at the immediate, in space and time.. if the standard is poor now, a mediocre record is not exceptional just because the standard is low; in absolute terms, it remains mediocre and needs to be stated. Otherwise, mediocrity is legitimized as an acceptable status, and that is horrendous.

It's out of place if you stick to the logic of 100% current magazines, which, despite being theoretically composed of people who have often been writing for a long time and have a global and accurate vision of rock, simply adhere to the moment's contingencies (exactly as you are doing) and lower the quality standard with which they evaluate records to align with the current average. But all of this is aesthetically dishonest, as well as questionable for any critic who would define themselves as such.

I think your comment might be one of the smartest of the past year, hehehe : ) .. sound good live is not exactly the same as making records that are good records... the difference is significant. It's a matter of logic.

I think that Room on Fire was the beginning of a downward trajectory, following one of the brightest debuts of the last 20 years... and I believe that this trajectory is hard to stop. But hope is the last to die, even if reading your precise description makes me feel, at best, it's the same old story...

Because I've seen the Muse video with the little ladies dancing pass by so many times, it was really competing with Avril Lavigne and the Blue... eheheh : D ...if you don't call that being overhyped.. damn totally overhyped, for crying out loud! Bye amoeba : )

Vasco Rossi has revolutionized rock music?? It seems highly offensive to me all of this..
