three stars, three and a half stars are fine.... Fregoli Stipe and company have intelligently corrected their course and regained their position as the leading band of stadium rock, thanks to a handful of perfect songs and a short, intense album that doesn't bore but certainly won't be remembered as a highlight in their discography.

mmmmmmmm, maybe more than with the Tool's "undertow", perhaps I could also sense some resonance with certain episodes that have a psycho-noise flavor from "Opiate", like "Jerk-off", what do you think?

"Boring prolixity" for NAIH? Well, it was practically recorded on the road, and you can tell; it still boasts an enviable freshness, not to mention the intrinsic value of the compositions. "Accelerate" is a pleasure to listen to, a more than decent album.

I used to blast Therapy? during my teenage years! What can I say: I don’t really see the comparison with Tool, rather with some Jesus Lizard (not to mention the inevitable Helmet)... these guys had just the outer shell of metal. Fyfe's drumming often included surprising dance rhythms (in fact, after he left, the band shamefully melted away). The early EPs are all delightful, including the one where "James Joyce fucks Cairns' sister."

great album, too bad that from "dopes to infinity" onwards they became a bit stagnant

It was a rhetorical question, of course. A quote from Van Morrison or the movie "the Commitments" would have made the scene even more delightful.

Ah, Bird's back... I remember a game where they were demolishing Jordan's Bulls... they were up 29-5 when his back went pop, and at that point, "Mom, put the pasta on..."

who better than Maynard in boots and a sadomaso outfit can be the devil?

Yes, considering that Bird had a physique of a Ford worker (aside from height, he had limited explosiveness) compared to his great rivals, I consider him the best basketball player I have ever seen since I started following basketball (late 80s). Legendary the steal from Isiah, who, by the way, had described him as "overrated because he is white" in that very series. Larry responded to him on the court, as always.
