This is Rock'N'Roll!

After four years, R.E.M. returns to the scene with a new, fast, incisive album: "Accelerate". The record consists of 11 tracks for a total of 34 minutes of pure rock made in Athens. The atmosphere the album conveys is that of a real live performance. Fast music, powerful guitar, gritty voice, and politically charged lyrics are the main characteristics of the album. After the calm experiences of "Up", "Reveal", and "Around The Sun", Stipe and company seem to have returned to their roots.

Buck and Mills have fun producing powerful and captivating music ("Living Well Is The Best Revenge", "Supernatural Superserious", "I'm Gonna Dj") and sweet and melodic songs ("Until The Day Is Done", "Sing For The Submarine"). Michael Stipe's singing is expressive, lively, energetic, and the lyrics reflect on the current and future American and global situation.

In short, the band from Athens is back in great form, with a great work, a great energy. All that’s left is to rush to their concerts next July.

'Accelerate' perfectly captures the soul of that animal called R.E.M.

R.E.M. take a step back to take two forward, recovering the spirit typical of their youthful years.

The fourteenth R.E.M. seal is by far the most guitar-driven of the last ten years.

This 'Accelerate' has a sharp sound that the three R.E.M. orphans...had forgotten.

It’s enough to leave your ears buzzing for days. Incredible.

Relax, Peter, danger averted. R.E.M. are back. To stay.

REM deserves applause because they are one of the few bands that... still manage to produce works as good as this one.

The production is very good, and the sound always remains quite clean and clear.

Thankfully, there’s Accelerate, their least inconclusive and ultimately the most beautiful album: finally the guitars roar, no longer like the plastic of the 80s, but finally in a thunderous and sparkling way, like never before.

Get two good headphones, start Supernatural Superserious and feel the sound come in from both sides, echo in your chest, and mess up your soul.
