The only thing that will remain incomprehensible about Pajo is why he accepted to play in the Swans... oh well...

Perfect review for a grunge legend. Better with the Screaming Trees, his solo albums have grown tiresome over time. I agree with the meaning behind the critic's polemic. Today, Lanegan has stepped into the good graces of critics and certain alternative circles, but an invitation to listen again to when he was torrid and raw (and with an equally explosive poetic) certainly doesn't hurt.... The Screaming Trees were an extraordinary band. Even the bassist (the bass line that introduces "Where the Twain Shall Meet" is devastating) and the great Mark Pickerel on drums made a fundamental contribution. A truly great band. "Black Sun Morning" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

I have only "sweet oblivion," very nice although for me it is inferior to the works of Soundgarden or Pearl Jam from the same period. However, it is true that the Screaming Trees were somewhat like Tad, treated as the last wheel of the grunge cart. A very nice review, I like the references to Seattle and grunge, and the way you write.

In my opinion, you focused on a rather emphatic phrase (but it was by no means presumptuous; it was just a trick to remind that Lanegan came from an even more desolate place than Aberdeen, and to highlight the "middle of nowhere" context in which the band was formed) and veered off track... I believe those are two different things: I never said "none of you remembers Mark Lanegan." My intention was to invite you to rediscover the earlier albums—much more interesting to me—of a notoriously prolific artist (bordering on artistic bulimia), whose impressive body of work tends to overshadow his glorious past. My target was mainly the critics à la page, who now praise any release of his sight unseen. I also focused on the fact that the ST were prime movers within the same grunge scene, a recognition that isn’t always acknowledged by the critics themselves: that’s all.

dignified, nothing more: truly beautiful sour girl, accompanied by a very sensual video back in the day.
