Nice question: fuzzy is a good album, fresher and more spirited than this one. Especially the first side flows easily, and I think you should start there. Just make sure to get "mighty joe moon," which is definitely better! Also, don't forget the shiva burlesque, Phillips' first group, which you can read about in the nice review by Socrates. Bye!

Excellent review, it captures perfectly all the "American" sound and the fact that Grant Lee Buffalo were among the few to shy away from the Marlboro country rhetoric that so many fell into... truly a dazzling album.
The Smiths The Queen Is Dead
Voto:
@turo87. I don’t think I have repeated clichés in this review, but only my opinions. Which I believe I have justified coherently. I didn’t say that the Smiths have never made good albums (The Queen Is Dead is one), but that they have never made masterpieces on vinyl, and that instead many of their best works can be found on 45s. One can agree or disagree, of course. If we really want to talk about clichés, it’s much more conformist to say that this is a masterpiece: whenever some magazine ranks the best albums of all time, "The Queen Is Dead" appears, and generally, regarding the Smiths, there’s such a process of beatification/institutionalization that it's really rare to read words that aren’t ecstatic or hagiographic in their reviews. Cheers.
