I'm sorry, but I can't stand the genre of Death in June, so I wouldn't know what to tell you. The discourse on sound extremism is not an easy one to tackle. For example, brutal/death, for my ears, is more boring than extreme. An example of an extreme (REALLY extreme) band in my opinion was Nasum: impact, dynamism, heaviness. Minimalism?? Do you mean Steve Reich?? :DDD

Dear Lord Helvete, I have listened to so many of those death metal albums that you can't even imagine. I only speak about things I know. Now, are you telling me that all the thousands of death bands that come out every day are actually valid?? I mean, they just keep rehashing the same stylistic elements dictated by the pioneers years ago (Death, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Obituary, Suffocation) without the slightest novelty.. That the genre can be enjoyable is obvious (I listen to it too), but to deny that a good portion of these bands are TOTALLY useless is a crazy stretch.

I believe that the underground death metal scene is the most thriving of all metal genres. Unfortunately, 99.9% of these bands are as useful as summer hailstorms.
