It was not long ago, in 2002, when 5 Finnish Death Metallers were having fun playing, almost as a joke, covers of "Six Feet Under" and "Obituary", their undisputed idols, in bars and venues. And it was during one of their "shows" that they decided to form a band, named after one of the songs played that very evening: Torture Killer, and they decided that from that moment on, they should try to write their own pieces.
Six months later they released their debut album: "For Maggots To Devour". Initially, they wrote the 9 tracks under the label "Severe Music", owned by one of the members. Later on, they caught the attention of "Karmageddon Media", which agreed to commercialize the album.
The tracks are each more devastating than the last, with clear inspirations from their idols mentioned above:
1 - "Flesh Breaks To Open Wounds", the most fitting song to be the album's opening track, nice guitar riff. Rating: 7.0
2 - "Sadistic Violation", very nice riff and fitting rhythm, fantastic. Rating: 8.0
3 - "Motivated to Kill", drums used splendidly, decent guitar riff. Rating: 7.5
4 - "Necrophag", nice guitar riff accompanied by the drums. Rating: 7.0
5 - "Fuck Them When They Bleed", song with a very imaginative title, but not only! Fantastic guitars and a gut-busting chorus, placing it in third place among the best on the album. Rating: 8.5
6 - "No Time to Bleed", very nice verses and the vocals accompanied by the guitars are fantastic. Rating: 8.0
7 - "Torture to Death", track, in my opinion, the best in the TK discography. The verses are absolutely perfect: perfectly fitting rhythm, indescribable guitars and drums. The only weak point is the chorus, not quite fitting with the devastating verses... but it still remains the best. Rating: 9.5
8 - "Gore Terror", the second best on the album. Both the verses and the chorus are fantastic, but it lacks a special rhythm and a convincing ending... Also, the drums are not the best. Rating: 9.0
9 - "Strangulation", besides having a very nice title, also has a devastating guitar riff. Perfect to close in style. Rating: 8.0
An absolutely perfect start for one of the most promising bands in the Death Metal scene. A true Must-Have for genre lovers.
