The early albums were undoubtedly garage-punk, given the unmistakable influences of Motörhead, Dead Boys, and Stooges. Then they moved on to making hard rock (which is quite pathetic, by the way). Just give a listen to the two volumes of their Cream of the Crap, where they pay tribute to the bands that influenced them the most. And what about Soundtrack Our Lives? Now they make rock music for MTV and radio, while before they were incredibly intense when they were called Union Carbide Productions.

Yes, Tinto Brass is a cockroach, I agree, but in that film there's Malcolm McDowell as Caligula who makes the difference. Well, the film was released in '84, I believe, but it was shot in '77.

be freaks is not only different from this but from all existing films (as well as being one of the first films to be heavily censored in the history of cinema), and those who have seen it know why. Anyway, we are talking about the prehistory of cinema, and Browning's films before freaks are absolute masterpieces. The Unholy Three and The Unknown are all works to be rediscovered, just like Dr. Caligari.
