Franz Ferdinand You Could Have It So Much Better

Copernicus, it's not a competition to see who discovers first chichesia.. I just found your remark "a band called Arctic Monkeys, which we will soon hear about.." hilarious, considering it’s a band that’s talked about even on "TV Sorrisi e Canzoni" and has already been widely debated on this site too, with criticisms very close to those aimed at FF.. I believe they’ve been number 1 in England, and at the Italian Fnac they sell them between Ramazzotti and Giorgia's best of.. I mean, this little band isn’t exactly hard to discover. And if you need to go on a rant for a comment.. always your genius of little bands!

We'll be hearing about Copernico by the Arctic Monkeys... thanks for the tip... I even heard about it in the cooking column of Corriere della Sera... on this site, the album has been reviewed for at least a month... well, the first one had its share of ifs and buts, but still had some really strong tracks... this one doesn’t. A truly bad review.

(I don't see him much in Milan, maybe because I always see him in Turin)... I haven't been convinced lately. However, this album is really beautiful..

Arianna72, are you okay? You're completely off topic..

But indeed my critique is directed at your positions... or rather, at your intransigence regarding them in relation to a small group that hasn’t done anything wrong other than produce a pleasant little rock disc that brought them success and made another little disgusting one... but that said, these positions regarding Franz Ferdinand are exaggerated... then again, it’s just an opinion, just like yours! I'm not freaking out over it; you seem awake enough to understand that…

Come on, easycure, you're really being a pain. They’ve been passed off as the phenomena of indie rock when, in truth, they’re not. Okay. They didn’t invent anything. Okay. They’re derivative. Okay. Just like all these little bands from the 2000s, except for The Strokes and Interpol for different reasons. And honestly, at least on their first album, they managed to pull out at least 4 or 5 inspired tracks. Michael, first and foremost. You can’t deny that. This campaign of yours to discredit anyone who dares to speak well of them gets tedious after a while. We get it, you think they're mediocre. And that today’s standard is mediocrity. But come to terms with the fact that they’re still less mediocre than many others. That some songs are still great, beyond any argument. Just like some of Madonna’s songs (even though I can’t stand her, I won’t deny that her latest is a great pop track!). Personally, in recent years, I’ve only been moved by Radiohead and Massive Attack, but when I listened to the first disc by Franz, I thought, “It’s not a game-changer, but it’s not that bad.” So go bother those who get excited about Negramaro and let those who simply enjoy dancing to “Take Me Out” live in peace. For being such a mediocre band, let me say you’re giving them too much of your time. When are you going to do a nice mock review of the EPs?

no controversy.. and I already saw them in Milan in November (from Turin!).. they confirm exactly what you hear on the album.. some tracks of excellent intensity typical of dark-wave echoing those years.. as well as echoing those Interpol who had already revisited the theme a few years prior but certainly with a bit more personality and class. That said, I loved Joy Division and while on one hand this reading that feels so much like copying can be annoying, on the other it is enjoyable to listen to.. especially when the tracks are called Fingers In The Factories or Fall.. truly inspired tracks.. doubts remain about the lack of willingness of these new bands to innovate and renew themselves..
