Styx The Grand Illusion

Journey, Boston; later Saga, Tesla, Asia, Heart, Night Ranger, Giant... it always depends on tastes and what you're looking for, as well as the time period. Around the '80s there was an explosion of pomp/hard rock bands. Otherwise, there's a lot of prog from those years and earlier: and then the list gets longer.

They arrived later, alas!

In my opinion, this is the best alongside "Paradise Theater": but if you find "Pieces of Eight" or "Cornerstone," don't leave them there...

Dreamwarrior, you’re talking about the past... and what about prog? Have you ever wondered why, besides the usual chart-topping bands in Italy, no one else performs anymore?

Dear Joe Cavalli, what can I say? You managed to distort everything, including album titles: next time, pull out the CD and copy the titles exactly instead of writing whatever comes to your mind...

Kansas Point Of Know Return
Voto:
A nice review, perhaps a bit too narrow: but mine is an opinion based on personal tastes, so it's debatable and not universally shareable. I've always considered Journey (the early ones, I mean) more like offspring than peers of Kansas: it's easier to find echoes and consonances in one direction rather than the other. We are in sync when it comes to Boston: that's more AOR (I don't know if that term still exists; it used to be called that...). It's true, Styx are missing: who will step up first?
Marillion Clutching At Straws
Voto:
It would actually be better to remain within the tones of normality: I had already pointed out the presence of some inaccuracies. My advice for the next review (you're free to reject it) is to not wander too much in the periphery but to stay focused on personal impressions. But if you really want to talk about the "extras," take a look online: for instance, regarding the Marillion, there is a comprehensive interview extracted from an old issue of the fanzine of the Italian fan club "Real to Read" on the corresponding website (WWW.REALTOREAD.IT, to be precise).

Let's say you'd have me start with the toughest review: you know very well that this album has received more slaps than applause... I seriously need to sit comfortably before doing it. Right now I'm going to say no: but it's just because I'm going on vacation. But we can talk about it! Anyway, your clarification has "satisfied" me: also because you never know if someone (better late than never!) might discover and become fond of this band?!
Rush Caress Of Steel
Voto:
It's not the only underestimated song by Rush (let's skip the fact that they have always been underestimated in Italy: but never mind, because that's a topic for a lifetime of discussion!). I like your straightforwardness and genuineness.
P.S.: lexus, park yourself back in the garage and lower the shutter. It's a piece of advice from a "friend"...
