In my opinion, Linkin Park's music is something new. A commercial hybrid of pop, metal, and hip hop that appeals to all those teenagers who don't understand a damn thing about music. Everyone with their 30-gigabyte iPods or 500-euro fancy phones. This, in my view, is the classic figure of today's adolescent. However, it's not necessarily a bad thing; it's simply a characteristic that kids are listening to music that we connoisseurs might not like. Because it remains music after all, and whether we like it or not, it represents a musical revolution that seems to be prevailing over historic bands like Metallica or Black Sabbath. I think many of us (including myself) judge this music as garbage, but only because we don’t like it. And as the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," so even if we reverse the meaning of the proverb, it remains a true statement, that “ugliness is not what is ugly, it is what is not liked” (and I don’t like LP).
