Madonna Confession on a Dance Floor

In response to Flood... Is Kate Bush another planet? Alright, I could agree, but the situation wouldn't change if we were to replace her with a Roisin Murphy, for example... are we more aligned now? Put it however you want, but Madonna remains out of place if we're talking about music...

Madonna is a product, like a pair of jeans, sunglasses... a packet of Aulin. In my humble opinion, a musician isn't one just because they pay producers or know a couple of stylists, but rather because they make music, and I doubt Madonna has any kind of expertise in that regard. If we want to take it to the man/woman level, enough with this crap; I just need to mention Kate Bush, who chews Madonna up and spits her out whenever she wants. So please, let's not confuse shit with chocolate... The most suitable context for Madonna is a Vestro catalog, not a site that deals with music...

In response to Flood's considerations, I would like to clarify that: (1) I unconditionally admire anyone who tends to contradict themselves more than confirm themselves, in music as in life... (2) It seems to me that the biggest flaw in Bjork's recent productions lies precisely in the stubborn pursuit of novelty, following a reiterated formula, which personally tires me, wanting to use the usual elements simply played in a more extreme key, but nothing more, nothing so new or original. (3) Artists, if they truly want to take risks, must not be presumptuous but rather objective and understand when it is time to hang up their shoes, or if they really desire, change direction, and since they consider themselves as such, perhaps migrate to art galleries, and not linger in the dirty world of the music business just because it’s convenient to maintain a public image to defend; there are avant-garde stylists or one is simply in a cycle of covers... (4) Kate Bush waited several years before releasing a wonderful album like "Aerial"; I define this professional honesty... personally, I believe the Icelandic artist is somewhat lacking in this regard and is simply quite clever, but it is what it is, there exists a segment of so-called music enthusiasts who needs this type of product...

I don't know how to put it differently, but for me this record remains an endless slap, it pulls me in every time... one of the things I love most about Sonic.

I think it's a real shame that she has tarnished her reputation with the self-referential nonsense she produces today, as a diva she has become. The freshness of this album is invaluable, just like the palpable way she handles electronic material, mixing it with her stunning voice, managing to make both better than they already are, and excuse me if that’s not enough given the team of programmers, arrangers, and producers who dedicated themselves to this album (Talvin Singh, Howie B, Nellee Hooper...) and especially the vocal qualities of the young lady in question. There's a lack of a mention of the intensely powerful "The Anchor Song," for me the killer track of the album, and the extra track "Play Dead," featuring a certain Jah Wobble on bass... not to mention "Venus As A Boy"...

I listen to it when I ride my bike, it's one of my favorites. But "Bubble And Scrape" is at least a couple of meters above.

There wasn't MTV back then... I think I saw the video for "Suds..." on Alternative Nation, or maybe it was Moka Shock, I can't remember now, well, I had never heard anything like it before, it impressed me a lot, the next day I already had the album... and listening to it again now, it still sounds fresh. I saw them live at the Magazzini years ago for the first time, and they performed all the songs from "WCS" even better than they are on the record if that's possible, and I was particularly struck by "Jigsaw You," which I already loved and which has remained for me their best song ever: simplicity and intensity at just the right level. An unforgettable album. "You know well, just never tell, if someone's got a secret hell..."

What is there to say?
It's a sensational album... is there anything else needed?
When I hear "Love turned me into sick sugar," I still get goosebumps...
Red Hot Chili Peppers Blood Sugar Sex Magik

For old timers like me who discovered the Peppers with "Mother's Milk" while trying to pull off a 360 ollie off the sidewalk, "Blood Sugar..." remains a cornerstone of American indie, which is why everything that follows pales in comparison, no matter how catchy it may be.
Let's face it: age is creeping up, and the best ideas are spent across one, maybe two albums (in a couple of cases even three... but we’re talking about Dylan or Floyd here).
The memory is like a wild three-week camping trip during which we played (to the delight of our neighboring campers) only this album, while we, awkwardly wielding improbable instruments, entertained ourselves pretending to be the band.
Anyone who loved this album can only associate it with carefree and happy moments, or with summer: inevitably "Good times."
A little tear...
