Ummm, I had been wanting to download them from the internet for a while, your review gave me a little extra push.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful review, truly heartfelt. I know Zao by name; this year they released their latest album, I believe, The fear is what keeps us here.....I had read that they had slowly distanced themselves from the definition of Christian hardcore that they had created themselves.....God, or whoever gets to take His place, is not dead; He has just been replaced by other values ;)

Thank you, daftroby. But above all, thanks to the other de-baseriani for the various contributions and clarifications. I imagine, however, that beyond everything, the importance of this album cannot be questioned.

I hope that you, as well as the other de-baser fans, have understood my point of view, which is also what many think here. I respect you and your reviews, Krystal, but I felt compelled to intervene ;)

However, a certain perplexity remains: I believe that from a certain point of view the Negramaro have done more harm than good to the Salento music scene. Note that I am simply limiting myself to this, and I am not bringing up statements of parochialism, belonging, and other stories... I am Salento only by residence; for the rest, I don’t care that much. Here in Salento, there are a lot of valid groups (even more than the Negramaro) and many skilled musicians, but they find themselves with their hands tied because... they don’t sound like the Negramaro!!! Realize the situation. And here there is absolutely no envy involved; the Negramaro deserve the success they have and likely worked hard to achieve it, but it’s also about recognizing and appreciating the work of others, giving opportunities to those who hustle with their own band; if you don’t sound like the Negramaro, you’re not considered! That’s also why a lot of musicians from this area move north in search of "better fortune" or try to survive within the Salento circuit with concerts for a few loyal fans. The same goes for the Sud Sound System... I am ashamed to be represented by them in Italy, and I would even say that I don’t want to be Salento!

I want to start with two things; First: Krystal, I really enjoyed your review, at least it’s very well written and has substance. Second: I live in a town in the province of Lecce, so (for better or for worse) I know the artistic scene, and specifically the musical one (I also play and have two bands), in which Salento finds itself. I have NOTHING against Negramaro, on the contrary: I believe they are great musicians, very skilled and with good ideas, even if their chart-topping rock isn’t necessarily the most original. What I particularly like about them is that they are not a fleeting group, this must be acknowledged, and this is an important fact because it shows the sincerity with which they make music (and Negramaro makes music, unlike others) and that they are not a group created on paper. I know this for sure because I’ve met some members of Helvetica (do you know them, Krystal?) with whom Giuliano played before Negramaro. So there is no discussion about the band...

That's exactly the point: there is no more communication. But I assure you that your feedback conveyed a lot.
