THE REVIEW

I left Behold... the Arctopus in 2003 with their EP Arctopocalpyse Now.. Warmageddon Later. The three amusing guys led by Dysrhythmico Colin Marston recorded a second EP after two years. And if you remembered Beholdblabla as crazy, schizophrenic, frenetic, absurd, well, forget it!

Yes, because this 'Nano-Nucleonic blabla' (Beholdblabla is definitely the band of blabla) is WORSE!

More frenzy, more schizophrenia, crazier, faster, stranger, and more absurd. It sounds like an advertisement, but it's not. The guitar/warr guitar/drums trio delights us with 17 minutes and 33 seconds of pure sonic assault as only they can do. There's much more noise, more dissonance, decidedly more "avant-garde". While the first EP mixed catchiness and technique, this one simply disintegrates. Tracks that not even a meat grinder could invent, they throw them down as if they were meatballs.

And in brevity lies the genius: you don’t get tired of listening to it. Also because our dear friends have inserted (!) moments of relaxation. Hidden in the sonic jungle (Exospacial Psionic Aura) are moments of quiet peace (Estrogen-Pathogen Exchange Program) but also authentic pearls of melody (i.e. Sensory Amusia), always surrounded by all that "blablabla" that our dear friends know how to do. In short, it's not an EP that tires you. Or rather, you get tired afterward.

Did you want the frenzy? The madness? The absurdity? The blablablà? Here it is for you.

The EP Nano-Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning by Behold... The Arctopus pushes boundaries with increased frenzy, dissonance, and experimental sound compared to their previous work. At 17 minutes, it delivers a relentless sonic assault with moments of melody and calm woven subtly within the chaos. This record is a challenging yet rewarding listening experience for fans of technical and avant-garde metal.
