Yes, even that genius Godard actually improvised brilliantly... but dismissing Wild at Heart, no way, I saw it again last night, it's magnificent. I really like Arquette (in every sense), she's incredible in Scorsese's masterpiece "Bringing Out the Dead" as well.
Going back to Lost Highway, in my opinion, the first 10 minutes are pure beauty... and I'm talking about the shots, but especially the colors and the darkness. And also the mute reverse frame of the burning house...

For Emanuel: yes, it's a spectacle the way he performs, seen in the special features of the DVD. And realize, the script with Lynch is almost non-existent: he improvises most of it while shooting. Do you understand? He improvises films like that! You have to be a genius to be born like that.
Oh, for "Inland Empire" I would even walk to the Cannes festival. In fact, I'm leaving right away.

I love music, the soundtrack is exhilarating five times over with the images, I agree, but without it, at least for me, it remains (if you've seen the film, it's clear). Elephant Man is a beautiful film but being the first in Hollywood, it lacks that genius touch, inevitably. About Dune, the Italian version has been literally PROFANED AND RAVAGED by De Laurentis's completely random cuts because it was deemed too long (sigh), so my judgment is quite relative.
On the other hand, we don't agree on Fire Walks With Me because I consider it stunning, as a hardcore Twin Peaks super-fan. If someone hasn't seen the series, they definitely won't understand a thing, that much is certain. Unfortunately, the harsh law of money has meant that even that film, and not just the Italian version this time, was cut by more than an hour, forever losing fundamental revelations about the unsolved mysteries of Twin Peaks. Alas, I even signed the petition online, but it was all in vain.

For a crash: for me, David Lynch is the most brilliant mind in cinema since Wells and Hitchcock... this film probably has the most beautiful cinematography I can remember, it's so beautiful that you can't describe it in words, you have to lose yourself in it... the director of photography is Peter Deming. However, I don't agree with the idea that we are far from the times of Eraserhead (a monument to genius)... for me, everything he has done from '86 until now is a collection of masterpieces: Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, Fire Walks with Me, and the other already mentioned. I think he had a slight decline during Elephant Man and Dune in the early '80s.

Hello everyone! I'd like to add that the songs in question were personally chosen by Lynch and for this reason they are perfectly embodied within the celluloid, almost as if they were one thing. This is not a special case; watch Wild at Heart, A Straight Story, and Mulholland Drive (if you haven't done so already, of course) to understand.

So I find myself thinking that the only personality-saving remedy is an iron fist. They will hate you when they are young, but perhaps they will thank you when they are older. Although I am very doubtful…

I agree, the situation is dramatic. They start brainwashing them from a young age... Jesus, I see my cousin who, at 6 years old, devours all the perverse and malign children's shows on Sky. I've sometimes watched this barbarism with my own eyes, and it’s truly chilling how, with insidious tricks, they give defenseless children a distorted, impoverished, and simplistic view of reality. She doesn’t even play with dolls or other toys she should at her age anymore. This really scares me. In a year, it wouldn’t be surprising if her parents buy her a cell phone because her classmates have one.

Beautiful is the discrimination with the Greenday... and you know, these kids have grown so much over the years, going from elementary school kids to middle school ones.
