I love the Talking Heads because I’ve been listening to them since I was 6 years old, back in the distant past (I like to think of the past as a tree), in 1977 or 78 when my brother – about a decade older than me – bought 77. He would spin it on the turntable (strictly with a Stenton needle) and I listened in awe to this record with the red cover, loving "Psycho Killer" and "Don't Worry About the Government." I knew them all by heart, just like the songs from "Fear of Music," another personal masterpiece of Byrne and company!
I don’t know Tosca, but I’ll give them a listen even if they might not be exactly my cup of tea; we'll give them a chance. In the mornings, I used to get up early on my bike - sometimes even at 5-6 AM. It’s wonderful to exercise in the morning when there’s no one around and you can enjoy the peace of silence without the risk of being run over by some nut in a car. The earbuds would always fall out of my ears when I ran, so I bought a pair (super cool) of bone-conduction headphones that sit just after the ear canal, allowing you to listen to music without being cut off from the rest of the world. Always present during my runs, bike rides, gym workouts, and hikes in the mountains...
What can I say? A bittersweet review full of memories and sensations, perhaps worth revisiting... Ah, I think I was also on that beach near Tulum! But memory is not my companion... And you smile!
