Class III G, Geo&Geo

Essay

Describe the contents and comment on "Io sono Giorgia," the autobiography of Giorgia Meloni.

Development

Reading a novel and giving your opinion is already somewhat presumptuous in itself; commenting on someone else's life even more so.

I will strive to exclusively analyze the quality of the writing, its flow, the ease with which you can read and maintain attention... in short, how and how much the text captures us.

The analysis of the writing does not offer great possibilities for interpretation: I don’t find it particularly suitable to quote, at the beginning of each chapter, phrases taken from the songs of our most famous singer-songwriters, simply because I consider it a bit of a trick (a smart move). The prose is excessively pop and full of repetitions, almost as if wanting to highlight certain specific characteristics of the protagonist.

Excessively verbose on some passages, decidedly self-praising on others (I understand that it's an autobiography, but there needs to be balance, to avoid falling into I…, I…, I…). The work of the proofreaders seemed practically absent, or almost so. Perhaps it’s a personal choice.

I am fully aware that you like a writer in primis for how they write and then for what they tell, so what I have just outlined reflects my personal taste and, as such, is debatable. Yet, I cannot overlook the sensation of being constructed at the table to capture the greatest number of approvals.

For the contents, I would prefer not to express any comment, as everyone is free to believe and say what they want (always within the limits of correctness), but it is possible that autobiography and propaganda may sometimes merge.

I want to believe, in fact I do believe, that the chapter dedicated to the daughter is the truest truth of the entire text.

Final evaluation, Prof. Quattrocchi
