The Black Angels Phosphene Dream

It must be that the vinyl version is worth buying (finally, a vinyl edition that fully justifies the expense), but this album holds up and I like almost everything about it; indeed, its strength lies in its conciseness. Beautiful, beautiful this one too; they really haven’t messed up a single album, these guys.

Well done, Antò. Even though I've always been a staunch defender of "a quick hit" in terms of reviews, over time I've realized that a) this is a liberal site, so everyone does what they want b) different points of view really exist! c) deserving albums should rightfully be brought back to the attention of those who missed them. And Rumore even called it album of the year (not that it matters, really).

These would be perfect for today's terrible leaden weather. I’m looking for them immediately! Anyway, no bullshit people, the one and only definitive parody of Ferrero Rocher (and many other late '80s commercials) was made by these friends of my cousin from the same hometown:

Damn Antò! I'm sorry to have screwed you over with the review. Anyway, yeah, this is probably album of the year for me too, though the rest is a bit slim (I haven't found a new album worth two lines in three months. Maybe the latest Electric Wizard. We'll see. These damn Tame Impala, I've been looking for them on vinyl for four months but nothing at all, now I'm trying the brand new amazon.it but I doubt they have it.

Beautiful review, finally someone who tries to write something different! I would add that in the overdose, there’s the possibility of falling from a terrace and ending up like Wyatt, but only in serious cases and for short periods. The album isn't bad, a bit too soft, but it has its reasons; indeed, I find it definitely the most "personal" since Ta det Lugnt. Super warm sounds and great analog recording, the only problem for me is the lack of memorable moments, meaning the "pieces." 8 for the atmospheres and 6 for the songs.

Oh, I forgot to mention Mondo Drag, who in their retro moldy rock, I think are remarkable. Also for Alive Recordings, there's White Noise Sound who instead pay homage to Spacemen 3, but with more of that shoegaze stuff that drives you nuts. Now I say goodbye because there's a family competition going on for "metal jump" with my daughter (the metal jump, for the record, is the classic knee slide in street metal style).

Thank you, Bartolo! I had thought about the new Dungen, interesting they've become something like the Canterbury sound, great vintage sound work. Nice atmosphere but I think they’re lacking a bit in the tracks. If you want to get blown away, I recommend the Daughters of the Sun, trippy Americans with an Indian vibe.

To understand who the mustachioed one was, read "Life and Fate" by Vassily Grossman, published by Adelphi a year ago; it's worth it, an insider's view of the War, of Stalingrad, of Stalin and his obsessions, and the purges of '37. Ah, the mustache stayed at the hotel under my house around the '20s during a European tour he took. But he didn't leave a tip.

I’ll interrupt to give the usual 5 balls to the good Bartolo (I can’t say the same for the Danava, who I discovered just in time for the release of this album and dismissed shortly after... they seemed a bit like a joke to me) and in search of advice. This year I remember few valuable records, many of which are recoveries from 2009 (if you have the time/desire, check out The Voidist by Imaad Wasif released by Teepee in 2009, it’s worth it). I’ll be ordering the latest Wizard on vinyl soon, following the path of Witchcult which I really enjoyed. What Nes says about the EW EPs is true; I’m still proud of having followed the advice of user Roky Erickson and having picked up Supercoven years ago in Tokyo (but I missed out on Chrononaut on eBay by a hair two years ago... grrr!)

Well Bartolo, you have to pass them to me because I can't find them anywhere.
