THE REVIEW

Note for the (courteous) DeReader: before starting the unfortunate reading, click HERE and let it play. Then return (if you will have the pleasure). Thank you. sfà.

The ensemble curiously named U.S. Christmas is a composite group of six elements hailing from North Carolina affiliated with the heavily agitated roster of Neurot Recordings: thanks to which they have recently released their reflective third effort over a massive distance.

The basal structure on which the expressive coordinates of Our group are founded can be easily traced back to the Mother Band of Neurot yet we would be quite seditious not to recognize the admirable and often tangible attempt to diversify and thus expand the dazzlingly raging Neurotic canvas implemented within the nine tracks (in total, just under an hour of sound-temporal dilations) that constitute the pseudo-Christmas work.

A massively reiterated and enveloping injection of sidereal synthesizers, theremin, and multiform vintage blip-blip accompanies, enriches, and colors the habitual hurricanes of guitars/bass/drums and the indelicate screams emanating from the swollen larynx of the Vocalist (a rambunctious cross between the ungraceful vintage Cronos and the Dave Wyndorf period "Spine Of God").

Many much more than moderately centered exemplary fragments could be cited, but I would say that to fully understand the acoustic avulsions condensed here, the semi-suite of ten minutes "Silent Tongue" is paradigmatic, within which all para-kraut (but also pseudo-Hawkwindian) digressions and the mixed trajectories dispensed throughout the entire work are concentrated: moments of ecstatic, changing, and listless reflection are contrasted with muscular, envelopingly sinusoidal psychedelic-space rides that quickly collapse back onto themselves in a short-circuiting structure of a certain concrete value.

All that remains for me is to offer you, albeit with a slight advance, a greeting of Merry (U.S.) Christmas!
