Stefano, I'm starting to like you! This review is spot-on about one of my childhood passions, or rather, the first one... perhaps the only band for which I own a complete discography on vinyl. The rating is perfect; the only 5/5 is the second album, which is definitely a cut above all their other 70's work... let’s not even talk about the 80's. Bye!

beautiful FranP. I only have This IS Our Muusic by Galaxie 500 and I don't mind it. I don't know Ghost but as soon as I return to Tokyo, I will look them up. The album seems interesting, maybe I’ll download it next time. Bye
Television Marquee Moon

First of all: Dude, go confess yourself because this album is a masterpiece and not just for Marquee Moon. If you say otherwise, it means you haven't listened to it... the album needs time to be fully appreciated. Let's talk about the review: Stefano, I mostly agree with you on (almost) everything, except for the reference to the Jeffersons, which I don't think fits very well... I don't know, I see the connection more with other new wave bands like the Soft Boys of Cope... to me, it feels more like it stems from a passion for harder rock groups, like Led Zeppelin (of course, don’t take my word for it, the reference is quite subtle), and if you read the booklet of the remaster version, they mention it. Then, some other things: See No Evil doesn’t seem very garage to me, but maybe I’m wrong.
Last pseudo-criticism, not necessarily aimed at you: why do people review albums that have already been reviewed by others? In some cases, it’s fine especially if it’s two reviews sent together (which happens with new releases), or with crap like that Air album that needed a redo, but I’d say we should avoid it because, for instance, I read them once in 10 times (I read this one because it's a masterpiece); and also, try to make them a bit shorter, but that’s just personal taste. Cheers and bienvenido.

chigau!!! That's "wrong" in Japanese! Electro is the stuff that makes Felix Da Housecat, Fischerspooner, and other characters happy, at least according to the magazines, and it should be a reinterpretation of the dancey 80s, or rather the flashy electronic drum sounds... obviously, Daniele is a category and like all categories in music and beyond, it doesn't hold much value. My intention wasn't to give a slap on the wrist like "I'm giving you a two on your report card for not clearly defining this music"... far from it. Bye!

Damn, I found out today that the bassist and guitarist are from On Trial... now a lot of things make sense! The drummer is an ex-Raveonettes. Saludos!

Well, my idea doesn't take into account my limited finances... my yen are stuck in Japan to pay for two months of crappy summer rent, so vacation is just a dream. By the way, where are you going abroad? Even though it sucks, I guess I'm maxing out on going to London to visit a friend of my "partner" (what terms do you use!) or maybe the Netherlands to visit other friends... yes, in short, total freeloading! Bye

I'm not objective about the album that, maybe in hindsight as Giov says, has been overrated, but the fact is I bought it in Tokyo in a super-luxury Japanese edition with writing only in Japanese and completely different artwork. Plus, I recorded it the very first time I went to Japan four years ago, and it reminds me of a nice time. You're more of a piece of shit than ever, I agree with Rocky! But this is really nice and made me laugh on a rainy evening! Bye!
Hawkwind Space Ritual

DAMN!!!!!! We said we would do this review, but really you couldn’t be more of an idiot! I like this one a bit more than the Mr. Bungle one, but you could have at least tried to give a little historical introduction about those freaks from Notting Hill! Well, let me share some background info: the girl with the face painting and the seventh bra size is the lovely Stacia who danced to "Nature" during their concerts. Here we have Lemmy before Motorhead and he sounds absolutely divine! A bass that holds up all the delirium around. In my opinion, it's a bit lengthy in some parts, but a good summary of the Hawkwindian work. In the studio, I recommend "Doremi Fasol Latido" (what an awful title, just like the cover) and "In Search of Space," which at this point I’ll have to review just to expand on their pseudo theories on Scientology, extraterrestrials, and man. The interludes between the delirious and the faux propagandistic of Calvert are priceless. In "Sonic Attack," he declares haphazardly:
"If you are making love it is imperative to bring all bodies to orgasm simultaneously"
"Do not panic. Use your wheels it is what they are for"
"If no wheels are available -metal-not organic -limbs should be employed whenever practicable"
Finally, it’s worth mentioning the collaboration with dark fantasy writer Michael Moorcock on the lyrics, a detail that might raise eyebrows for many but contributes with his mystical, visionary texts to the mind-blowing effect of the group. And then someone needs to explain to me which instrument produces that characteristic meowing sound that lasts throughout the entire concert!
Cheers

I wanted to comment but here I risk death! I haven't read the review because, as the good caz quotes me, the game is in saying a lot in a small space... regardless of copy/paste. The album brings back both beautiful and terrible memories... my girlfriend at the time dumped me the day after I listened to Hurt three times in a row, in the throes of a depressive crisis... Objectively, a monstrous album both in positive and negative terms.

Damn, it's been ages since I last heard it and I even lost the tape! One of the first old records that my sister's boyfriend recorded for me 12 years ago! More memories from adolescence, how nice! Nice rec.
