I discovered this group, or rather this duo, through various discos and clubs that are increasingly filling my evenings and afternoons. In such an environment, if you have a keen musical eye, you cannot help but discover Fischerspooner.
Some of you may already know them, but for those wondering who the hell these guys are, here’s the answer to your questions: Fischerspooner is made up of Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner (the group's name is a fusion of their surnames), and they are accompanied in their performances by a dense following of dancers, choreographers, and makeup artists. The band's live performances are truly a spectacle, as they accompany their sound with very unique dances and provocations.
The story of this album begins in 1998, when their label (International Deejay Gigolo Records) finally releases "Best album ever," the first single being "Emerge," which achieves international success; but the definitive album will only be released in 2002 by the English label Ministry Of Sound, and the name given to it will be "#1".
After this biographical interlude, which is as necessary as ever, let's move on to the album, the music, finally.
The album is as tight as few others and consists of 11 tracks, eleven potential singles with only a few exceptions; you pleasantly travel from calm songs like "Tone Poem" to the pure energy conveyed by the single "Emerge," passing through the splendid "the 15th" and concluding with the psychedelic "ersatz".
If they were to be categorized into a genre, one would immediately say electronic, although they define themselves as a pop band. They claim they want to make pop as it should be, but as we all know, it isn’t. Certainly, it's a challenging goal to achieve, but the strength of this duo, besides their live performances, lies precisely in the exceptional mix of pop and electronic.
They are much more than just a duo; they are the ones who initiated a trend, the electronic one, which is now very "widespread" (to be polite) in clubs but whose right sound is difficult to capture. They have succeeded.
Recommended for nightclub lovers, for connoisseurs; a suggestion for those who are still not familiar with them ;-)
