The Tangent A Place In The Queue

If I understand correctly, it’s a good mix of early progressive influences... a) it might interest me b) if it had been released 35 years ago, ELP, Jethro & co. either wouldn't have become famous or would have been accused of plagiarism. I was just writing a review on the latest (but really the last since they disbanded) of Hypnos 69 "the eclectic measure", a Belgian band that was once stoner, now leaning towards a kind of early prog, more King Crimson than Canterbury, and featuring a nice saxophone. If you're interested, give them a try, the album is also quite concise at about 40 minutes.

I like + Lennon, but I have to say that among the lesser-known tracks, "For No One" from Revolver is stunning (I don't mean to throw a wild guess, but if I remember correctly, it seems to be by Macca).

Damn, digestion plays some notable tricks on my already limited vocabulary. I'll get back to it in September.

Honestly, an album that I almost regret buying… honestly, one of my least favorite by the Stones, two or three notable tracks, but frankly it was described to me as a little hidden gem, but for now it remains gathering dust between Aftermath and Their Satanic Majesties.

The problem is that the shopkeeper is the last wheel of the cart, on a CD (if he’s honest) he doesn’t make more than 4 euros. I’ve helped a friend who owns a historic shop in my area a bit, and I see he doesn’t make a dime. The real issue lies with the big chains, from Mediaworld onwards, who sell at a semi-loss because they receive free copies as a gift from the record label at the end of the year (I worked in a large electronics store with a CD section). At Christmas 2005, we were selling Madonna for 10.90. Obviously, the small shops are being wiped out. Those in niche markets survive, but not even that much (disfunzioni musicali docet).

I wanted to say that we tend to self-aggrandize because we lack the desire to take a "broad" look at the current musical context. The problem lies with the webzines and magazines that MUST promote a lot of stuff. Pitchfork is emblematic in this regard. Over the last three years, it has worsened significantly (not that it wasn’t snobby before, of course).
