Walter Hill I guerrieri della notte

Good job, Velvet. If you had been my younger cousin, I would have tried to give you a few punches. Being from '76, I've seen this movie countless times. In a rather absurd way, though. From the ages of 11 to 13-14, we would gather at a friend's house on Saturday afternoons and watch it. ALWAYS, meaning almost every week for two years. Even by halving the weeks of each year, that’s at least 50 viewings. I would like to see it again because it's been about 16 years since I last watched it.

glimpsed in '90 on the same night as the first broadcast of Tsukamoto's Tetsuo. At 14, the orgy scene paralyzed me for a week. I wish I could find it somewhere.

I think I have an EP with the mammoth in the showcase. Some tracks sound like the Motorpsycho from Blissard, that is, the Sonic Youth from Dirt, that is...

and no one has ever accused the American western of plagiarism. what audacity! there’s so much to say about Japanese filmmakers... I don’t mind teshigahara either. but I prefer Takashi Miike and the good tsukamoto.

boredom in Rome in '96 I saw them too. The salami sandwich that flew onto the stage towards the end of their short set was my dinner. Terrible.

What can I say, a film that has (like the late and never overly praised Philip K.) practically birthed a literary movement and especially created a visual imagery whose echo is still present today, not only in fiction but in the real world. Different from the book it is inspired by, but neglecting crucial themes for Dick (religion damn it, it isn’t even mentioned). And to think that Dick always lived in the shadow of other lauded authors of the time (think of Vonnegut, his obsession); just at the moment when he could have justly become famous on a global scale, he dies just before the end of filming. Unfortunately, a true loser, like the vast majority of his characters.

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The excessive resemblance to Plant makes them appear a bit too derivative. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Stray, but like much of the psychedelic/early hard rock/early progressive stuff from the late '60s and early '70s, it is often excessively praised because it is less known. I don’t mean to imply that this is your case; I’m talking about how all the labels dedicated to the archaeology of the period (from the best - see Sundazed - to the average - see certain Akarma reissues and like Negative Records) gush with ecstatic comments as if they had unearthed some kind of musical treasure. I reiterate, it’s a good album, but in this genre, I prefer Yesterday’s Children, and maybe even Josephus, though perhaps we're in the same ballpark. Anyway, it’s still miles better than a lot of hyper-pumped stuff these days, ca va sans dire.

for now it tells me very little, definitely the best among the "second albums" of acclaimed bands from 2-4 years ago (see CYHASY, Shins), but it didn't strike me like the first one did. Obviously, as I wrote before, there's no more novelty effect. However, the other one lasted three months in my player just the same, and I bought it almost by chance as soon as it came out. So by the time success arrived, I was already tired of them. Anyway, definitely interesting, what makes me think is that the current scene is nothing short of suffocating if the standard-bearers of the new are the Arcade Fire, with all due respect for the band and their fans. Let's not even talk about the wave of HORRIBLE little bands spawned by mother UK, real musical abortions with no reason to exist. You know the names, don’t make me waste brain cells listing them.

I've been hearing it for about a week now and I don't mind it, even though I remember very little about the caves. My sister saw it a couple of times in '92/'93. Birthday party—just something, but confused memories.

I don’t understand you and I don’t understand those who, like you, waste time talking about all this artistic nothingness. I mean, everyone agrees that the festival has always been a joke, yet here we are discussing it? Honestly, indifference is the best way to fight this circus; even talking about it just to disparage it plays into the festival's hands. The important thing isn't the artistic content, but the fact that it generates gossip and gets people talking.
