Yo La Tengo Genius + Love = Yo La Tengo

mariaelena, sorry, that was a pointless comment; I was just messing around on the site and couldn't help myself... I'm a paid shill of the Accademia della Crusca e della Fava. No hard feelings.

Ordered and arrived on Monday, so far not bad but the last one is more original and challenging. This one flows quite smoothly.

here's what it reminded me of, I think you took it from the one existing in the UK psychedelia booklet that came out with the July/August issue last year. The sentences are identical. Anyway, it's not a bad album; I've been listening to it a lot lately.

"or something you believe in"......there's something wrong with the sentence. Whoever guesses correctly wins a Valpolicella by Quintarelli.

Well, perhaps I was a bit too harsh, but only in the second intervention. I know very well, punisher, that history is history and cinema is cinema. I didn't go to the movies looking for a historical film, also because having read the comic I already knew it would be like that. However, that thing about Europe left me perplexed; I need to see if it's the same in the comic or if it was just the director's invention. Unfortunately, sometimes little things make me really angry. More than anything, it's the film as a whole that made me feel sick, and thinking back, it only gets worse.

I wanted to say, "Of course, for some he may seem like a boring and pretentious comic, but to label someone as an intellectual (what an enormous bullshit) just because he tries to make people laugh intelligently, helping that muscle called the brain which is often atrophied, is a direct result of a society that snubs and condemns everything that seeks to break away from the general mediocrity."

Well, unfortunately I knew it wouldn't last in the long run, so I avoided going to see it. However, on Scafroglia, the satire of fascists on Mars was GENIUS! Well done, Fusillo, for reiterating the substantial work on newsreel terminology, a true gem. Not comedy for coarse minds, but always sharp and acerbic enough. Of course, for some, he may come off as a boring and haughty comedian, but to accuse someone of intellectualism (what an enormous load of nonsense) just because they try to make intelligent jokes, stimulating that muscle called the brain which is often atrophied, is quite the problem. If for people, laughing means embracing complete subhumans like Ficarra & Picone, Boldi/De Sica, and similar primates, that's their issue. They don't need to watch Guzzanti; they probably wouldn't understand. Even they lose a bit of their punch, but in my opinion, the Scafroglia case has been one of the best shows in the last 6-7 years.

the site may be full of stupid reviews (you wrote it, not me... I'm nice and won't embarrass you), but this one has been around for a while and was better. So I renew my advice: check if there are already other recs; if not, please go ahead, otherwise abstain unless the first one is liquid shit. Sorry, Alessio, this is not a personal attack; the review is not crap, obviously. It's just that the debaser machine is getting really clogged up, and I'd like it to run better.
Shinya Tsukamoto Tetsuo - The Iron Man
Voto:
Bravo zero in conduct to say that the good Shinya did everything on his own. As I wrote elsewhere, I saw it now 16 years ago and it had a profound effect on me, so much so that I went on to study Eastern languages and ended up writing about this film in my thesis... managing in the meantime to have a couple of chats with Tsukamoto himself at the Venice Film Festival when he presented Snake of June (which to this day remains the film that impressed me the least, photography aside). Luckily, he was friends with our cinema professor even before he became a director, so we always had fresh news. There's little to say about the film, other than that it remains a challenging watch, whether for the lack of colors, the frenetic sequences, or Kawai's claustrophobic soundtrack (at the time, very few cared about japanoizu). One note: the man does not wake up and discover the metal wire... first, I think he hits someone; don't you agree? I mean, the film starts from the initial sequence where there's also the stunning scene of the metal tube being inoculated into the femur.
