Well, I keep listening to this album, I would say it's incredible! I'm about to get the DVD on Amazon... but damn, I was slow, I found it for 4 €!!! Anyway, there are endless performances on YouTube, the ones on Letterman are nice and there's one with that little gay guy from Bright Eyes. And Z is an awesome album too.

gazebo? Hey, are you from Rome? But from "that whore Roma, bourgeois, fascistoid, from that Rome of 'let's love each other and move on', from that Rome of pizzerias, dairies, 'Sali e Tabacchi', 'Erbaggi e Frutta', that Rome of castagnacci, maritozzi with cream, without cream, of mostaccioli and candies, of supplì, lupini, of mosciarelle..." or am I wrong?

Fantastic, no one except Happy noticed that the piece is taken directly from the book... at this point, we could use a review of Huey Lewis and the News. Maybe my favorite book, American Psycho.

Valtorta Luca is a nice guy I met 12 years ago, co-author with Alessandro Gomarasca of a now hard-to-find (but highly recommended) book called Sol Mutante, about contemporary Japan and especially about Japanoizu (Masonna, Zeni Geva, Gerogerigegege, etc. etc...). I didn't know he wrote for XL, poor guy.
Trey Parker South Park: Il Film

I don't know, we think in diametrically opposite ways. For me, it was obvious that South Park would become very famous, precisely because it cleverly leverages provocative language to attract attention at first glance (especially from a teenage audience). Then it also has a remarkable critical edge, of course, but the success of The Simpsons didn’t rely on any kind of gimmick like South Park does. Instead, The Simpsons can seem boring upon casual viewing, so I don't find them that easy.

And they are not sitting in positions that are exactly "natural," especially Iggy, which made me doubt as soon as I connected the cover and the song.

The fact that you say we don’t see beyond the swear words is a bit arrogant. As I said, it’s not the vulgarity expressed that I don’t like; it’s the often somewhat predictable ways of criticism that rely on a less interesting comedy for me. Then it depends on age; I grew up with the Simpsons from the early '90s, you maybe didn’t. I’ve noticed that SP tends to be liked more by younger people, but of course, that’s not a rule. There are a lot of people I know who try to argue about the Griffins, but I always get annoyed and they just drop it...

It didn’t blow me away; I had been told it was a masterpiece. The idea is very nice, especially when they recreate the entire Soviet imagery with state brands and television. But apart from that, the film never takes off—I never managed to feel any emotions, good or bad. Regarding the topic of former Soviet dictatorships, there’s little to say: even coming from a leftist family for generations, it’s important to recognize the failure of the egalitarian utopia when applied to such broad (numerically, but not only) social contexts. With this, I don’t mean to deny anything, but I make a clear distinction between the distorted application of a "communist" ethic and the so-called "ideal." The latter I hold dear and will try to pass on to my son. That we are now in a kind of dictatorship of money is beyond doubt (I hope). We move (I think) freely, but the cage has only expanded; the pressure is less visible, yet the horizon is equally filled with clouds.

Sorry John, but when it comes to Revolver, I only see black and white (and I know this cover quite well; it's the second thing I see every morning when I go to make coffee since it stands next to Raw Power in the living room). If you go to this link, you'll understand that I'm referring to the inner photo of the Funhouse LP, not the cover: Ingrandisci questa immagine
