Let me start by saying that in my opinion, this album is truly of the highest level and so far the best by Verdena. The beauty of this product lies in the fact that Verdena have managed to innovate while staying true to their style; the decision to include the keyboard by the new entry, Fidel, was spot on, although unfortunately he has already left the group.
If their first two albums could be considered, comparable, but certainly not matched, to Nirvana's Nevermind and In Utero, here we can associate them with the evolution of that group, namely Radiohead's Ok Computer.
Logorrea is a perfect choice as a song and even more fitting to place it at the beginning of the album with a truly dizzying initial guitar and drum riff. Luna is the song that truly launched the album with enigmatic words and a stunning bass riff. Mina is a transition track, not beautiful but enjoyable.
Balanite is perhaps one of the best tracks on the album, melancholic, smudged, and incomprehensible. Phantastica is the second single of the album, very catchy and enjoyable; definitely one of the best tracks of the album. Elefante begins with a truly remarkable bass riff that lasts throughout the song, a bit repetitive but also very beautiful. Glamodrama is, in my opinion, the best track on the album, 6 minutes of psychedelic journey into a world and a truly incomprehensible text. Far Fisa is a transition track, not beautiful but still listenable. 17 tir nel cortile is a bit monotonous, it is a sign that perhaps the album starts to lose momentum, but up to this point, it's really the only negative note. 40 secondi di niente redeems the album's judgment with its engaging and spot-on guitar riffs. Il Suicidio del Samurai is the closing track of the album, taking its name from an unreleased track by Nirvana; truly beautiful and perfect as the album's closing track.
The judgment is very high, but perhaps a star should be deducted since I am a bit biased because I am from Bergamo. However, it is certainly commendable that the CD was self-produced by the group and recorded in a chicken coop converted into a recording studio; it is not innovative from a musical standpoint but from the group's history perspective it is, and above all it shows that a good album can be made without being under major record labels or mega-productions!
The beautiful lyrics are not overly complicated, but they still manage to enchant, to transport, to make you feel freely empty inside.
Verdena doesn’t lose some trademarks but, on the contrary, expands them to reach near-total perfection for an Italian alternative rock album.
"The trio alone is worth the price of the entire batch."
"Not perfect, but certainly more focused, confident, and homogeneous than its predecessors."
