Yes, I also remember reading something like that. Clapton would dirty everything with his hand, strings and neck. Is it due to excessive sweating of the hands? I don't know, but he sure sounds slow as hell, so: crap. What about Paco De Lucia? He plays a ton of notes per second but, since he has classical or acoustic guitars in his hands, it doesn’t matter.
