Peter Green The End Of The Game

DeGenere modified. Peter Green, a concentrate of music as I like it, a lot of beautiful things but beautiful, a worthy review, even more worthy comments.

Now someone will come along who loves Wish and Pulse and will say: "Whatever, Jim, you're just showing off, etc." and so I already respond: "Shine deserved his replies because he's an intelligent person, you're just a punk who hasn't followed the conversation at all, so just back off." @Shine: no hard feelings, once again. Maybe we'll agree on a review of Paolo Conte.

Dear shine, with this I’m definitively closing the discussion with you for two good reasons: 1. You can’t read. 2. You interpret what little you manage to read in your own way, and I’ll explain why step by step. So: <<<You carefully avoid all my statements>>> Well, I’ll bring them back to you almost one by one, but whatever. <<<By the way, I’ve never talked about the number of signatures or about Gilmour’s skill as a lyricist, and that says a lot about your bad faith.>>> Oh no, and what did you mean? The opposite perhaps? If I say that <If I talked about Sheep it was just to emphasize that merits aren’t seen only from the credits,> it means there’s usurpation of credit – always referencing your initial discussion of misguided mythologizing or absent credits. On the ability to write lyrics (a discussion I raised, of course): but according to you, what is the artistic weight of a musician (N.B. who has the presumption of writing the lyrics as well) based on? On hairstyle or being company to the rest of the band? If you can’t write the lyrics, better leave it alone, right? And this discussion is very relevant in the context since we are talking about Pulse and not The Wall Live or any nonsense! Then: <<<You, on the other hand, don’t even do that, attributing the mini-suite A Saucerful of Secrets solely to Waters, and that’s a mistake>>> There’s also his contribution, right? And know that it’s the largest contribution, compare the styles or, if you have the chance, download some video-audio material from the torrent and get informed. Don’t just read/watch what you find in specials on MTV or DVDs at the Ipercoop. Then find me where I claimed that A Saucerful Of Secrets is solely Waters', excuse me. I’m talking about a shy Waters who pulls out some damn songs, okay? Let’s move on: <<<As for taste, I can say that Sheep is a great piece and that there are many pieces in The Division Bell that surpass in beauty many from The Final Cut. Specifically: "Paranoid Eyes," "Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert," and "One of the Few" are MUSICALMENTE some of the worst Floydian productions. In contrast, I find "Marooned," "Wearing the Inside Out," and "High Hopes" from The Division Bell very beautiful.>>> Well, if you’re happy then everyone is happy. If you like The Division Bell, that says a lot about your musical taste (sacrosanct, huh!) and so it’s unlikely we’ll see things from the same point of view. TDB is the most ingratiating album, the most POP, easy listening at full blast to sell to the people, to sell and make money: in two words (imho) a load of crap. Excuse me, but that’s how it is. Remove the Pink Floyd label, change the voice (just to avoid recognition) and see what a splendid album comes out.

@Shine: if you want to continue this fruitless argument, by talking about sheep you highlight a passage that marks the peak degradation of Floyd, so it’s not even worth emphasizing it as a merit. The merit, as far as I understand, is for you "the signature" or having had a hand in it. But do you know how much I value the signature on a pointless piece or the contribution? If by merit you also mean "quantity" of signatures, well, it seems to me that there is also in this case an abyss of difference. Shall we move on and talk about the lyrics? Don’t come and tell me that Gil is a good lyricist or I swear I’ll cut off the discussion and label you as "a die-hard fan without art or part" and let’s close it here. I repeat, it all stems from a statement of YOURS: "Waters mythologized at the expense of the others." But give me a break! Yes, Dave's contribution will have a certain weight, but what you’re claiming... Can you listen to The Division Bell in its entirety?

Well Zaio', the myth of your death that cried out for vengeance to the heavens has been on everyone's lips lately. I've really felt your absence, and you know it, but make sure to show up once in a while because there's a lot of work to do!

Shine continues to be absent: no one has denied the work of others, but you have to acknowledge that it carries a different weight. And then it was you, dear brother, who started the conversation saying that Waters has been unjustly mythologized at the expense of Gil&Co., and here I say to you: a pair of balls. Then you brought up a series of useless things that shifted the focus of the discussion onto taste, which, rightly so, is purely personal, and on the biographies you buy at Ricordi that are worth less than half a cent.
