"Every Man For Himself" is the latest work from Hoobastank, who, not satisfied with the global success achieved with their previous albums "Hoobastank" and especially "The Reason," are trying to conquer the world's charts for the third time.
This third work of theirs is a synthesis of their previous albums. So once again, the beautiful "slow jams" are not missing, which attempt to match the success achieved with "The Reason," alternated with equally fast tracks. The ballads this time are no longer unbearable burdens like in "The Reason," but instead, they also have their moments of aggression, which contributes significantly to the album's smoothness. There are no particularly bad, boring, heavy, or whatever you might call them songs, so it's rare to hit the skip button while listening.
On the contrary, there are songs that stand out compared to the others, like the single "Inside Of You" with its guitar riff that sticks in your head at first listen, or the aggressive "Without A Fight" and "Finally Awake" which seem to come right out of the self-titled. However, there's a shadow that heavily affects the final score: unfortunately, compared to the other albums, the quality of the songs that should carry the album has significantly decreased: "Without A Fight" and "Finally Awake" are full of energy, of course, but there's no track on this album capable of taking on the role of a "Crawling In The Dark."
In short, Hoobastank delivered their best elsewhere.
