Never liked them, not even in the beginning.
Being formally ancient, when I think of the (best) #Italian metal, I remember the Bulldozer's "Neurodeliri", the Necrodeath's "Into The Macabre", and something from the very early DeathSS.
And really, not much else.
Maybe there have been some great masterpieces that I missed.
Of course, "Tropical sun" by Fulci remains, in its own way, an unmissable cornerstone.
