Um, just a moment, Ale: "they are like that, they don't have too many demands and that's fair."
How can they not have demands?! They are always in the spotlight, they are overpaid and heavily publicized, you see them at every hour even on rock-tv: the problem is precisely that they ARE demanding!

The album isn't great, especially "Die with your boots on" which is one of the lowest points ever reached by Maiden: personally, I prefer "Powerslave," but to each their own...
Great review, Spike Joe, from a true fan: I wonder if those who spam you have ever listened to an album in their life...

... finally I can reply to you calmly, Mr. Nobody... let’s take it step by step (and sorry for the delayed response!).
I imagine the question you accuse me of dodging is:
"[...] how the hell do you appreciate music like that of Banco, Area, Museo Rosenbach, to stay in Italy, and listen to this stuff? This is not a rhetorical question; I really don’t understand how it’s possible. And I see you're also a devotee of death metal.... [...]"
The argument doesn’t hold up, in my opinion: why do you consider it heresy?! A blasphemy?! It seems so, given that you talk about "devotion": let’s not kid ourselves! We’re talking about music here, not anything else. And this album (let me repeat) is far from being a milestone of the genre.
Dear Mr. Nobody, why don’t you forget for a moment about "musical genre" and focus on what an artist "says"? You’re saying it’s impossible (or crazy, or ridiculous) to appreciate both Area and (I don’t know) Napalm Death: so does that mean if I adore a painting by Picasso, I can’t equally appreciate one by Munch? If I love Stephen King, does that mean Pirandello is crap? If I love sounds reminiscent of Miles Davis, can I never appreciate the "chaos" that Hendrix created?
I believe that if there is "beauty" in a band (from various points of view) whether it’s Meshuggah, or Atheist, Metallica, Behemoth, The Who, Nirvana, Museo Rosenbach... why not feel "free" to appreciate it? These are different things, even at opposite ends, perhaps from your perspective they are merely incompatible... but why restrict oneself to specific genres?
Listening to metal has led me (unlike others) to broaden my musical horizons, discovering that there was a way to do it (Strapping Young Lad, for instance) that owed a lot to psychedelia, 70s rock, progressive, electronic... in short, to (almost) all the rest of the music worthy of that name.
I don’t believe there are "dogmatic" justifications to the question you pose: I simply try to explore. To forget the "genre": is that asking too much? Generally, I can’t stand clichés, melody for its own sake: I find these things both in metal and in progressive (and also in other "genres"...). And now, please don’t tell me that I dodged the question... goodbye!

I really like the review, the album a bit less (but only a little), let's say it's "normal" for them: there's nothing to be done, they're just too ahead (as always).

"Songs don't get stuck in your head" is not a topic... in my opinion
Hammerfall Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken
Voto:
I can't imagine (I DON'T WANT to imagine) what "hammerfall" put in this "album": the usual clichés, the usual stereotypes, the MELODY (that cursed one) and... there's even a slow song?! I would be surprised otherwise... in other words, I think it's better to go listen to the new Meshuggah CD...
PS: metalmaniac no offense but this review is written with the feet... um, you could occasionally put some damn punctuation in the sentences :) ... bye!

you didn't vote for the record at all, and in fact... you raised the average!
I’m reminded of Scaruffi talking about AC/DC: "Rolling Stone Magazine" gave "zero" to several of their albums: it was the best compliment they could give them! You’ve, as usual, abused anonymous posts, I adore you... and I don't have the patience, time, or desire to read what you’ve written... also because in the end we always reduce it to "yeah, but your sister's a whore," meaning things that have little to do with the topic.
Note for the discerning ear: are we still at the worn-out and provincial cliché "prog is cool, metal sucks and is just noise"? You read too many "serious" music reviews, guys... then it seems absurd that it’s written by someone who presumably loves music and spends time on this site... one might say: don’t you have anything better to do?
Anyway, de gustibus... if it’s any consolation, I also listen to the Residents, Stockhausen, alongside Morbid Angel, Banco, and Death... those are the "tastes of the reviewer," sorry if that's insufficient!

the average + high, I don't have the time to read your "INFINITE discussions" and honestly, I didn't miss them
"apologizing to the already overly spammed mayhem"
no problem, as the IT folks say, "it's an open issue" regarding spamming
can you believe that I get an email for every post...
but hey, this site is visited :)
White Zombie Astro-Creep:2000
Voto:
The album is a CLAMOROUS preview of EVERYTHING that the various metal magazines of the 90s would sadly have called "new-metal": certainly, it’s not all banal and flat like the various groups classified there. White Zombie certainly deserved more, even though they weren’t monstrous technically and not particularly creative. They played "that way" when it wasn’t a cliché yet: too bad they broke up... I believe we would have seen great things. The review is well done, easy to read compared to many others out there (including mine!), even though it perhaps wasn’t necessary to mention any, the album is too monolithic to make distinctions... but that’s just a simple opinion, the rest is fine.
PS: "House of 1000 Corpses" is one of the most authentically entertaining and self-celebratory horror films I have ever seen - in a good way, of course...
